hiking 30:00 [1] 1.6 mi (18:45 / mi)

horseback riding (english) 30:00 [3]

Blackjack having a total mental meltdown today. He was fine for about 10 minutes then decided he wanted to be back out with the herd. Dropping his shoulder and spinning (got me off once because I completely did not expect it) popping up in front and crow hopping. He behaved for about 10 minutes going back to the barn so I decided to quit while we were ahead. You always want to end a riding session on a good note so the horse does not learn that bad behavior = being done.

Lesson on William, the new Irish Draught gelding. This horse is HUGE. Quite a change from scrawny little Indy. W/T/C (I looooove his canter!) and a little jumping. I think once I adjust to him (totally different from what I have been riding, but in a good way) we will have a lot of fun!

Unpacking, doing tons of muddy laundry, and catching up on everything that built up in the 4 days I was away.

East Fork State Park - US Ultralong Championships - Green (F-Green)

I was so physically beat before even starting. Pretty much the entire time I didn't get above a fast hiking pace. However, the weather was gorgeous and I really enjoyed most of my time in the woods. I also had zero problems navigating and found everything right where I expected it to be. Everything was super muddy, and I do hate sliding down and clawing my way up the slopes, but it is kind of fun on some sick level. All in all a really enjoyable weekend of orienteering, and I was especially pleased with my pace on Friday and Saturday even if it didn't translate into results in a much more competitive class than I am used to.
