Note

People who ran red with GPSs, post quickroutes! (I'll do mine in an hour when I get back to my room.)

Note

I've spent the last 3 hours cleaning house here, including getting quickroute working. If you have a GPS watch, you should too! It's pretty sweet. (If you run red, I've even scanned the map for you!)

Day 1 Map
Day 1 Route
Day 2 Map
Day 2 Route

(edit: sorry about the poor map quality, I wasn't using a real scanning utility.)

... After further review, it looks like I was more lost that I thought on Saturday........ oh well. =/

Running warm up/down 6:40 [3] 0.69 mi (9:40 / mi)
shoes: VJ Falcon (2009-?)

woo, warmup.

Orienteering race 1:19:18 intensity: (20:00 @2) + (59:18 @4) *** 5.9 mi (13:26 / mi)
spiked:11/16c shoes: VJ Falcon (2009-?)

I had to walk more of this than I anticipated (see quickroute), but basically I'm happy with my race. I made a navigational error going from 2-3; my plan was to cut off the very easternmost part of the clearing so that I wouldn't have to orienteer for much of the leg, but I drifted too far to the west (partly because I thought I was going too close to south and overcorrected too much). Going from 8-9, I was distracted by a competitor leaving 9 and thought he was going to 9, so I followed him, but he wasn't going to the right spot.

I needs more running and things. And sleep.

Running warm up/down 6:00 intensity: (4:00 @2) + (1:00 @3) + (1:00 @4) 0.66 mi (9:06 / mi)
shoes: VJ Falcon (2009-?)

Thought my start time was 10:57, when it was in fact 10:54, as Ross kindly reminded me while I was running towards the path to the start as they were calling my name... That didn't lead to the start of a particularly focused race... <.<

Orienteering race 1:46:44 [2] *** 6.06 mi (17:37 / mi)
spiked:6/16c shoes: VJ Falcon (2009-?)

Yay, orienteering, and things -.- (DNF).

I quit for basically n reasons: I wasn't in the running for the championship (though I knew that after control 2.), I hadn't been training, and had run 2x as far as I had already than in the past while, I was lost, and I didn't feel like I was going to get any meaningful orienteering experience from trying to walk the rest of the course.
