Orienteering race (Sprint) 22:25 [5] **** 2.6 km (8:37 / km) +60m 7:44 / km
17c

ROC Sprint Champs - fairly clean in my navigation, only met with some trouble at #16 attacking the control from the wrong side of the tree and then took a poor route to #17, but otherwise pretty pleased with how I navigated. My speed, however, is another story. Very slow, but that's what happens when you run only sporadically over the summer...

Orienteering race (Middle) 42:58 [5] *** 4.4 km (9:46 / km) +195m 8:00 / km
17c

ROC Middle Distance - I was less pleased with this race for a number of reasons. First, as I was coming into number two I fell into a marsh and was stuck up to my armpits in mud!!! Second, I was really disappointed with the lack of difficulty in the course - many of the legs were orange or even yellow legs that required very little navigation and relied heavily on trail running with the control only hung a very short distance off the trail. A middle distance course is supposed to be short, techincal legs, and I can't think of many, if any in this course that reflected that design. Since the level of techincal difficulty was very low speed was one's friend for this race - something that I am lacking at the moment - therefore all this race managed to do was make me more tired for Sunday...
