Orienteering 1:05:00 [4] 12.5 km (5:12 / km)

Awsomely organized by DVOA Valley Goat. I had no particular plans for this event as I am, plagued by pains in my left knee, simply didn't know what to expect, plus, there were really highly motivated dudes who were ready to become: Goats, and so the field was strong! We took faily fast right from the start and Alexey broke into the lean on the way to the second control and set the pace. Trailing behind I decided to watch his actions as we pulled near first possible skip ( control # 4.) And Alexey surely skips it leaving me with no choice but to skip it as well. I pulled closer to him on the way to #6 as I stayed lower, where the grass wasn't as high as where he was running and John was right behind us. We stayed close to each other with me and Alexey alernating the lead, however on the way to #17 Alexey broke ahead, probably some 50m or so, partly because I stoped for a drink and John, made a slight move toward skipping 17 but quickly recalled that he already skipped and got back in line. Alexey had a different route choice to 18 and John began to experience cramps but still stayed close. I lost Alexey from my veiw but then saw him climbing toward 19. I fell on the trail and John passed me by leading me to 19. We again saw Alexey and he was again about 50m ahead. On the way to 20 I broke away from cramping John and pushing as hard as I could gain may be 1/3 on Alexey who then led us to 20 and then maybe 100m apart 21. I think I gained another 1/3 on that quick leg as I didn't even have to slow down because of Alexey's back right infront of me. We climed back to the road with Him being 12-15m ahead of me and in another 300m I cougth him on down hill and punching almost toghether on the next to the last control, when suddenly, Alexey swirles to the left running off with 45 degrees angle from where we should've run. I sprinted right toward the last bad and to the finish. Alexey realized his mistake but was too far to be able to do anything about me already sprinting toward the finish. And so I became the Goat third time in the row. Luckely for me, the terrain was mostly open fields, and didn't put my knee under too much pressure, so I was able to just endure the nuisance of the pain. But now I have to make a decission if I should take another break to allow it to heal or to continue my training hoping for it to get better. I will watch it over the next week and then will draw the conclusion :( All in all, as Greg said the NYC gang did very good at the event and remarked on Alexey's and Boris' as having very solid runs and and their improving physical shapes, too bad he himself cought some weird cold, which may have affected him on the course.

Running 22:46 [2] 5.5 km (4:08 / km)

Legs didn't feel 100% today at all and just wouldn't move, even skipped strides for the sake of some break.

Running 43:32 [3] 11.0 km (3:57 / km)

Taking a day off apparently has paid off and I just felt better prepaired for this training session. Run two loops in PP + a lot of stretching at the end.

Running 22:29 [3] 5.5 km (4:05 / km)

Run a loop in PP. Kind of felt yesterday's set of strides so I was tired, therefore, took it easy.
