Orienteering 58:00 [3] 6.5 km (8:55 / km)

Together with Greg, Boris, and AliI at Eagle Rock. We ran the Red course from DVOA-HVO dual meet in up to 2 foot in places of snow. It helped that Ali and I had compasses :) Really tough and physical, but certainly great workout.

Running 15:00 [3] 1.2 mi (12:30 / mi)

After a fight with a crazy clog in the tub and retrieving what appeared to be a lipstick (neatly dropped in by previous owners' kid?) on top of other nastiness, jogged on the treadmill + did some pull and push ups after that.

Cross-training 4:30:00 [3]

A big dig at home from all the snow. Could barely lift my hands and lean backwards by the time I was done. Driveway had snow up to my waste. This was the most grueling x-training in quite a while.

Skiing 1:15:00 [3]

Last day of skiing. Started out with others but then took a break by showing Kat skating technique at the stadium and then skied back to the lodge. Managed to stay upright the entire weekend, despite a few tricky and speedy turns, so no bruises this time :)

Skiing 2:00:00 [3]

More skiing mostly with Boris + a 5.2k time trial. Boris and I exchanged the lead at half way and we pushed at pretty good pace. Good stuff.

Skiing 1:35:00 [3]

Stake skiing with Greg, Boris, and Vadim at Lake Placid. Beautiful weather.

Running 1:04:00 [3] 13.5 km (4:44 / km) +50m 4:39 / km

Good run at Eagle Rock. Mixed some tempo in the middle and uphills.

Note

Came back to witness the most epic collapse by Giants, like ever. This just made me sick...

Running 54:20 [3] 9.0 km (6:02 / km)

Testing my running headlamp at Eagle Rock. Not bad on even trails, though really cautious and insecure on downhills and rocky patches.

Wednesday Dec 8, 2010 #

Running 26:00 [3] 4.5 km (5:47 / km)

Easy run to Verona park for some pull-ups and push-ups and back.

Orienteering 58:03 [3] 7.5 km (7:44 / km)

The mass start training at Quabbin. Feeling rusty and fragile so took it very slowly from the start. Got confused by the direction and spent a good minute figuring out what happened when everyone but a few of us disappeared to the right. Picked it up a bit in the middle, but slowed down again towards the end. Nice woods and a good practice at the conclusion of a fine weekend!

Orienteering 22:02 [4]

The sprint at U-Mass Uni. set by Alex. Very neat area and an excellent sprint venue. Unfortunately, my lack of specific sprint training let itself known on #3 as I was scratching my head trying to figure out where the bag was until Joe yelled something behind the wall. Then got caught by Greg and was sloppy from then on. Spent almost a minute on the last # as I was trying to make sense of the parking lot and the fence where the streamers was tied to. A good training overall, though legs felt rather tired especially towards the end.

Running 10:15 [5] 3.0 km (3:25 / km)
ahr:174 max:189

The 3K TT. The plan was to stay warm, not to lose to girls, and not break anything. For the most part I stuck with it. Started slow, almost behind everyone, but by the end of the 1st lap pulled myself behind Ali, who was chasing Will and Neil. Ross disappeared behind the curve to not be seeing again. Followed Ali for 4.5 laps, but then Neil and Will began to pull away, so I pulled myself up to them. Then somewhere on lap 6 I began to feel pretty warm and pulled myself ahead and away. Felt pretty good afterwards, which is surprising given my training in the past few months, but I wasn't going for a PR neither. Certainly doing these types of time trials are a lot more useful with friends than alone.

Cross-training 15:00 [3]

The Superstars event. I participated in every event with exception to the bonus O on crutches, which brought some painful memories from the past. Biathlon was the one I enjoyed the most, though shooting basketball would've been even more fun, I think. Oh yea, the wife carrying run was a blast, especially with Neil turning at the wrong side of the poll and holding back the competition :).

Running 51:02 [3] 10.0 km (5:06 / km) +100m 4:52 / km

Took a day off from work and went for a run in Eagle Rock. Enormous amount of trees got uprooted with the past storm and I found a new trail in the northern part.
