Running 20:00 [3] 2.2 mi (9:05 / mi)

Run on treadmill once again. My ankle was still bothering me after my fall on skis, so I decided to take it very easy this time. Need a rest.

Skiing 1:35:00 [3] 18.0 km (5:17 / km)

Skiing with Greg on narrow trails of Farnstock P. Felt dead almost from the begging, peharps I fell into "need a rest" micro cycle or it just his cats to be blamed for not letting me sleep, jumping, biting, trying to play with me almost whole night :) At especially nerrow place got my ski tangled by a twig, fell and twisted my injured ankle a bit, had to take it slowly for nex 10 min.:(((

Running 40:00 [3] 5.25 mi (7:37 / mi)

Exploited the treadmill in my basement once again. This is my third week since I started doing somewhat of a training and running at 7:30/mile became relatively easy. I tried to go 7:00/mile but after a minute or so the pain resumes in my injurd ankle, therefore, I can't do any faster pace running such as (stides) yet, though these would be helpful right now for my base building period. Well...... skiing is the only tipe of training that I am able to push a bit longer at since the foot is locked inside the skating boot and doesn't get involved into much of action as opposed to running. I think I will spend the entire February without any speed work to allow the ankle to get stronger......

Orienteering 36:55 [4] 4.8 km (7:41 / km)

A local HVO meet in Tennafly, lots of snow above ankle deep, some challenging orienteering for the first time in 3 month and to a big surprice the first place !!! I couldn't feel my feets in the begining as they got so frozen and I could tell how my ankle was doning. Only toward the end when the snow melted in my shoes I felt the sorness and discomfort. But overall it held up ok as I feared it could've been worse...and so I BACK though a bit slow :))

Skiing 15:00 [5] 2.5 km (6:00 / km)

Today is a day when two O-ers, refusing to bow down to mother's nature caprices of bereaving this land of snow and preventing them from greatest pleasures received from training and found only in skiing, have succesfully overcame such challenges by staging their match on a golf course field in Forest Park in New York City. During this unprecedented event ten toughest hills were conquered with a speed of a golf ball and all 18 holes were hit with eagles. Upon mutual agreement the official name of this event is "Exotic skiing in NYC."

Skiing 1:05:00 [3] 12.5 mi (5:12 / mi)

Easy skiing before, between and after the hill intervals. Since our (Greg and me) planned ski session in upstate NY was ruined by the lack of snow in ski center, Greg came up with idea to explore the golf course right next to his house, and to our surprise, there it was, untouched by humans and forgoten by weather SNOW! in sufficient amounts to even have a decent Ski-O meet (another Greg's idea) and so we skied to the amuzement of local dudes and all the passers by on the highway.......

Running 40:00 [3] 5.25 mi (7:37 / mi)

A usual now run on treadmill, felt a bit easy so run for a bit longer. Ankle is still quite unstable as a result my left leg ends up working as twice as my right one getting very tired toward the end. Some reading while running helps to keep the boredoom of such runs away :)

Running 32:00 [3] 3.8 mi (8:25 / mi)

Evening treadmill run, not as fun as skiing, but better than nothing anyway considering that everything is covered with ice making it impossible to have any training outside :( Surprisingly legs felt just fine despite yesterday's soreness, probably getting back in shape :))

Skiing 1:22:30 [3] 21.0 km (3:56 / km)

Another day at Lapland Lake, same ideal conditions and another exellent training day... Felt a bit tired throughout the session but managed to finish as fast as yesterday. whewwwwwwwww......... Back home.......!!!

Lapland Lake January'04

Skiing 30:00 [2] 5.5 km (5:27 / km)

Very easy skiing afterward with Greg and Bernard, my body just bonked at the end and I decided that was it:)) Greg is simply monster, after I passed away he skied for another hour and a half while I was "attacked" by Bernard's kids My ankle help up ok though very sore when back into hotel.

Running 31:00 [3] 3.75 mi (8:16 / mi)

Another rather late run on treadmill after I came back from Boris' house ( his turtle was unexpectedly over exited, not sure from seeing me, may be annoyed by me poiting at her or perhaps something else, but it relentressly tried to bite my finger off :) I also think I should cut down on weighs lifting since it did feel unconfortably heavy, though strong, troughout the run. Tomorrow I'll be going to lake Placid to taste some sub-zero colds and a first ski practice of course brrrrrrrrrrr...

Running 32:00 [3] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Run on treadmill in my basement, didn't feel light at all which indicates how out of shape I am. Legs still sore after Sun. run though better than yesterday, which felt like I've re-run Highlander. Well base-building period has began, and more intence training will begin when my leg heals up a bit more, some time in a month.

Running 36:00 [3] 7.3 km (4:56 / km)

A first run in 2.5 months since i've got injured with bunch of Russians in Forest Park. It's been long time since they run without me while I was just limbing/crawling on trails nearby. Felt fantasticly happy about the fact that I was able to keep up and not running out of breath. Though my ankle is still hurting now and then, I took all precausions to go easy on it. As I am at home now, it began to hurt a bit more but it just a result of stress that it hadn't in a while already. Hope to gradually resume training and get in shape by the time Billigoat !!! comes around (hope to repeat last year run!) whew...
