Given how much I really wanted to run on this map and that Noel was setting I should have pulled my socks up today but failed miserably! Head again not in it and already getting into catching up on things left undone by a week away... was going reasonably (falling a lot and a little scrappy, bit ok) until10. Lost a lot of time here, did not see control on first approach, saw another and misidentified it’s feature so then corrected into vague area. Decided to cut losses and start again from the round (amateur hoir!). Got to same place as first time. This time stuck to guns and eventually saw flag. Then ran off in wrong direction to lose further big time on next control. Knew it was all over then so was not pushing well through easy shot legs. Capped off the day by not seeing last control, heading wrong direction and nearly taking out Tara Sutherland who was. Running directly at the control. Lucky she had more momentum to my weary aytack and we both stayed upright!

Not happy with today’s run. Head not in gear. Without the mistakes I would still have been behind Kenny, but hopefully happier about the situation! Had trouble on 5 (poor route choice) 6 (ditto), 8 (missed control) and all that just left me flustered for rest of course. I think I too wrong route to 12 and 16...

Eoin and Aoife had both finished and secured their wins before I went out so the pressure was on! Aoife had even totally lost her 20 second lead before regaining it with a few spectators watching it all unfold from afar... so, I wanted to be solid but not spectacular today (lofty ambitions!). Slow And steady as far as 5 but Misread map to 6 And stopped way too early ( on a short leg). Was then nervous and uncertain through to 8, even 9. For the dangerous 10 fine, a bit low on 12 and then, 13! Really
Lost Control there and was too high. Got Within sight of Last Control andCrowd but still had to get the second last! Lucky I had a decent lead from previous days. Love Umuna!
