Orienteering (Mt Brown) 1:14:17 [3] 7.59 km (9:47 / km) +248m 8:25 / km

This was a good map but not the greatest course. Very physical to start (not good for me), easy controls for 1 and 2. 3 seems misplaced. I messed up 5 and lost about 4 min there! Spent from 8 to the finish repeating the word gratuitous as that is what it seemed to be - boring running through boring terrain at the end of 5 days slog.

Finished 2nd overall - the women of Australia visit the hall of mirrors, this should not be so.

Aoife started with Abigail McGhee. All good until 3 when she got distracted by a visible control, clearly not on the linear feature they were following. When they got there and saw the number was wrong, Abby gave Aoife a good "I told you so", at which point Aoife stormed off and came through to win the day. Nothing like a bit of motivation :). Good effort.

Orienteering (Kooringle) 1:00:05 [3] 7.51 km (8:00 / km) +129m 7:22 / km

Least enjoyable map. Was a bit of a slog most of the way. Lost time on 1, 3, 5, 6, 8 and big time on 11. Was in a pack at 11 but too busy ignoring them and lost more time than necessary there.

MTBO 38:02 [3] 7.55 km (11.9 kph) +122m

Lots of fun just cruising around the pine forest. Wish I had made the effort to go out other days.

Not a great day today, very shaky on way to 1 but luckily got it "by feel" more than any technique. OK through to 3 but poor-ish route choice to 4. Executed first half OK but got distracted once the hard bit was done and lost 4-5 min getting from there to the control. Then poor execution back across the steep green slope losing a bit of time and energy getting 6. Poor route to 8. Lost steam from 9 onwards and really faded at the end when a train of people ran past me. Great area again.

Orienteering (Shadowing) 25:30 [3] 1.85 km (13:47 / km) +72m 11:32 / km
shoes: VJ Sticky

This was a tough course for little kids. One misplaced control as well did not help. Probably not too bad for those who were shadowed as tall people could see it.

Not too bad today, apart from the wrong route choice (across the gorge) and then lost concentration going to 15 (after 2nd time through assembly). Lovely area.
