Cycling 3:30:00 [3] 19.0 mi (5.4 mph) +3937ft
weight:178lbs

San Juan Trail...

Did the loop after Cocktail Rock-all it's cracked up to be. Definitely true it is the best MTB trail in SoCal, from my experience.

Rode with Slater, his GF, Tiffany, and several other mtber types. Fun ride, too many stops though, 2hrs worth. 3:30 was ride time.

Great skills practice up and down, beautiful views...

Hot, upper 80s, with little wind.

Cycling 4:04:00 [3] 74.0 mi (18.2 mph) +4265ft
weight:179lbs

Swami's ride, then tacked on a ride from Encinitas to Mt. Soledad with Kurt. Soledad hurt like a bitch. 80s and humid today.

Smaller than usual. I was able to stay with the front group, didn't contest the sprints but went through 3-5 seconds back with the pack. All through Elfin Forest we were at 30mph, THEN the sprint. Breathing was not going to happen. Attacked the group like an idiot on Del Dios and again before the actual sprint At Rancho Santa Fe. Lead Kurt out on the last sprint, at least.

No current megapros there, most still in Europe or Beijing. At least 3 guys wearing State Champ shorts. Great ride. Felt awesome, next time I'll contest the sprints if I feel that good.

John Howard (olympian, 1980 Kona Ironman winner/bike record holder etc.) is still a badass. Unbelievable freak of nature. Humbling.

Torrey Pines climb in 7:18, steady building to hard.
Scripps climb 8:00 steady to mod-hard.
Did Soledad climb the backway, so no good split time.

4400' of climb.
time includes red lights.

Hit St. Tropez Cafe across from Nytro for megabrunch after the ride, then body surfed at Moonlight beach for a good hour with Kurt and his cousin.

Then went down to La Jolla to swim from the cove to shores and back. Sea Lion buzzed me, almost shat.

Riding San Juan Trail (MTB) tomorrow with AR types, should be fun.

Swim 38:00 [3]

La Jolla cove towards Scripps Pier/La Jolla Shores and back. Followed buoys, hit "1/2" buoy on way back instead of Yellow.

Actually felt super awesome. I don't get it. Felt the water nicely and good hip powre transfer/kick. Could have gone much longer but watching the shoulders as i ramp back up.

Typically flat conditions.

Was buzzed by a sea lion/seal? on the way back. didn't see him coming. swam under me, upside down, looking at me, took off. FAST.
No sharks this time, I was expecting to see him again.

Running 58:30 [3] 8.0 mi (7:19 / mi) +295ft 7:04 / mi

AeT pace run, 14bpm under LT, so 150 avg hr.

Warmed up 1st mile around 135-140hr then kept it
steady just at AeT, building to last couple miles upper range
but south of LT.

Foot pain is gone. Left soleus still a bit tight, but not lit up like last week.
Felt smoothe, 7:00 pace felt easy, ie marathon pace. good signal.

Doing Swami's ride tomorrow morning, tacking on 2hrs to yield 4-5hrs.
Most of the German pros are in town prepping for Kona, and they usual Tour de France/pro types. Always a good time, should be interesting to see what group I end up at the first sprint.

Cycling 2:26:00 [3] 38.0 mi (15.6 mph) +2297ft
slept:6.0

Evening, after work.

Encinitas up to LaCosta, up Rancho Santa Fe to poinsettia, up backside of San Elijo hill, back on RSF, through encinitas. Lots of stops, so low avg. speed. Rode with Kurt, Lorne, and Kurt's cousin from Michigan, who pipped me at the top of the SE climb, he's 6'1, 145lbs and all quads and lungs. Did the climb in 10:02, not bad. wish i had the power meter, avg watts was high, HR was pegged over 180.

Cycling 2:22:00 [3] 42.0 mi (17.7 mph) +2297ft

am
mark's in irvine to modjeska and back.
did modjeska climb in 5:55, without going hard, just floated up.
great benchmark.

again, didn't stop watch at all the red lights, or water refill. so low avg speed.
