Orienteering 1:45:00 [3]
Friday:
3:00pm: arrive at DFW and check in.
3:15pm: through security and check-in for 4:40 flight to BWI.
4:00pm: check departure board. Flight is canceled. Only other BWI options are stand-by flights on Saturday. Instead we choose a 9pm flight to Philly. Unfortunately, bags will still go to BWI. Luckily, we carry our O gear with us.
8:00pm: Flight to Philly now delayed to 10:30pm. Then 11pm. Then 11:30pm.
Saturday:
12:01am: Finally board plane and zonk out.
4:?? am: Arrive in Philly.
5:30 am: Arrive at Howard Johnson and hop in bed.
9:00 am: Time to O...
Good patient O. Walking some of the steeper hills to save energy. Bungled the final approach to C20. Hit trail bend, slowed down, told myself to shift to "red light" nav, particularly since I was looking for a depression in a fairly non-decscript area, careful compass,... missed. Hit the trail to the N. Carefully reattacked and as I see the bag that dang Wyatt comes running in.
Wyatt and I raced to C21. I chased to C22, C23 and C24. On the way to C25 I hit the yellow about 5m behind Wyatt. Wyatt was taking the right route so I thought I'd go left to see if I could find an advantage. Unfortanately, I got hung up in some nasty dark green and when I emerged for my final climb Wyatt was already up top. However, even if I had found the magic route across the last creek, I don't think my left route would have bought me enough of an advantage.
Missed the sprint because we drove to BWI to get our bags.
