strength & stretching 10:00 [3]

Morning stuff.

Note
weight:142lbs

And there it is. The big bad number. Let's see if some accountability helps.
2 PM

hiking 2:01:34 intensity: (23:17 @1) + (14:01 @2) + (1:06:10 @3) + (18:06 @4) 5.18 mi (23:28 / mi) +213m 20:49 / mi
ahr:114 max:139

Saw someone on the trail around the fenced in area for the first time. Went around twice though so more chance to see someone. 15lb pack slowed me down a bit especially in the woods sections where there are a few steep gullies to get down and back up.

Note

I haven't driven my car the last two weeks and I need to be somewhere tomorrow afternoon so I thought I'd go make sure it would start and drive it around for a bit. And glad I did since the car wouldn't start. I'm sure I could have gotten a neighbor to give me a jump, but I wasn't in a hurry so called AAA and they came to the rescue again (needed them in January when I locked myself out of a rental). The technician showed me readouts on his meter that he said showed my battery was pretty near the end of its life. I decided to do my part to help the economy and buy a new battery regardless of whether I could have limped along with the old one for a while or not. :)

strength & stretching 10:00 [3]

I've been doing a few exercises pretty regularly every morning - heel drops while I wait for my first cup of coffee to brew and single leg squats (holding on to the counters) while I wait for my second - and this morning I added a few others in afterwards. I've decided I'm going to do them as often as I can and then even if I don't do anything else, I will have done these.
9 AM

hiking 1:46:47 intensity: (1:35 @1) + (45:56 @2) + (53:20 @3) + (5:56 @4) 5.08 mi (21:01 / mi) +199m 18:45 / mi
ahr:112 max:138

I thought it was supposed to rain all day today and I had planned on just doing something inside (or yesterday's option of doing nothing) but it seemed nice enough out this morning that I thought I'd go for a walk. And as I walked I decided I'd go in the woods again and I'm glad I did. It was really nice. I saw no one on the trails and only a few people walking on the roads. Which was good because I managed to drop my face mask somewhere along the way. I had a bandana with me - I always carry one to wipe my eyes which are always tearing - so I was prepared if I needed something, but I never saw anyone.

Note

It is crazy windy here today. I am sure there will be many trees down in the Wissahickon. So far only small branches in my yard. The power flickered once, but came right back on - enough that I had to reset clocks on a few appliances but that's it.

I've been kind of down all day and had zero motivation to get in any exercise. Hopefully I will feel like doing something tomorrow or will at least be able to get myself to do something whether I feel like it or not.

My root canal scheduled for tomorrow was postponed.

hiking 1:36:47 intensity: (7:22 @1) + (47:59 @2) + (37:38 @3) + (3:18 @4) + (30 @5) 4.81 mi (20:07 / mi) +179m 18:02 / mi
ahr:110 max:158

Went out for a walk with a vague idea of going in to the woods if it didn't seem crowded. There were no cars parked by the A-hill trailhead so went in there intending to just to hike the trail around to the horse stables. I encountered about half a dozen people/groups but most were wearing masks (I was) and were courteous and moved over to the edges of the trail as we passed. Then as I was getting towards the end I noticed that there seemed to be much more of a path by the deer exclosure than I've noticed before. It looked pretty well trodden so I decided to investigate. It's clearly not used much, but enough so it's easily passable. It follows around on the outside of the exclosure going through some junky sections and some nice sections of woods. There was enough of a trail to make it pleasant and there were no people. Less than a mile around but a really nice loop. Now that I know it's there, I will probably incorporate it into most of my outings.

Peleton body weight classes plus some extra stretching.
The body weight stuff was hard - getting up and down off the floor is not easy for me but is definitely something I should work on. I will either break my knees or get them more flexible and stronger!
