Note

Here's a project idea (for myself): can I create one of those exercise trails in my yard where you do various things at different stations. There's a tree branch where I could do pull ups, do some sort of balance thing on some of the rocks that are garden borders, designate places for pushups, and so on. And then would I actually use it?

Yard 1:00:00 [3]

Outside for about three hours but wasn't working the whole time. Digging up some plants I not longer want in the flower beds since they are taking over (orange day lilies). Moving a few rocks - overdid it a bit with this I think.

strength & stretching 1:00:00 [3]

20 min full body Peleton workout
30 min full body different Peleton workout
10 min stretch

Note

I had all sorts of plans for exercising yesterday but I got hit with a wave of real sadness about the state of the world and how disrupted and at risk so many lives are at the moment. I decided not to do anything and not to feel bad about it.

hiking 3:11:37 intensity: (2:17 @1) + (3:09:19 @2) + (1 @3) 9.0 mi (21:17 / mi) +331m 19:07 / mi

Clearly the heart rate data is bogus. A beautiful day - windy so the bugs were kept at bay and full sunshine for most of it. Didn't bring a lunch so didn't stop but did eat a shot block at the 1 hour and 2 hour marks.

My audiobook finished at the 5 mile mark and I'm not surprised I picked up the pace a bit for the rest of the way home.

Another out and back since that trail doesn't seem to be anywhere near as crowded as the others.

Surprised how stiff and sore I was in the evening after this hike given how good I felt during it. My knee didn't even twinge until the 8 mile mark and then a quick stretch of the hamstrings and it was good all the way home.

Rest day - sort of. Funny twinge in hip so I thought I'd take it easy today. But I wanted to finish the garden project I started the other day since I can see it out the window where I sit to do most of my work and it was bugging me. So some time lifting heavy stones and digging and so forth. Good to be outside.

Note

The virus became very real today. One of my students lives in NYC in a small apartment and her mom has the virus. She herself is starting to have symptoms so assumes she has it as well although she can't be tested. They tried to take precautions but they don't have room to isolate very much. They are clinging to the hope that they will have mild cases and won't need to go to the ER.

hiking 1:41:04 intensity: (11:38 @1) + (56 @2) + (44:36 @3) + (43:10 @4) + (44 @5) 3.49 mi (28:57 / mi) +377m 21:41 / mi

Hill repeats. Managed to hit pause after starting but noticed not too long afterwards and started again. Had a slightly weighted pack (6 lbs.). Six repeats.
