Note
I just went to the grocery store for the first time in over a week. It was very interesting to see which items were gone. I wasn't expecting to see flour emptied out - are people suddenly deciding to bake, are they baking with their kids, or what? There was plenty of the bread in the bread aisle so it didn't make sense to me. Must be missing something.
But the big takeaway was driving past the "New Frontier Outfitters" store. There was a long snaking line of people who I am assuming were buying guns and/or ammunition. That has really shaken me up.
It turns out, that when I was young and unaware of what was going on in the world, during the scary beginnings of the cold war, my parents bought a rifle and hid it behind a fake panel in their closet. I was never aware when I was little, but only learned of it 15 or so years ago. They must have been pretty scared of what might happen to decide to bring a gun into a house with 6 kids.
Is the same thing going to happen now? Are people arming themselves in anticipation of a total breakdown of society? This is not good.
