orienteering race 1:26:43 [3] 5.7 km (15:13 / km) +220m 12:45 / km

A very, very fun green course set by Alison. Really enjoyed this course; it had some great route choice options and took us through some nice woods. I was careful where it counted and confident enough that when I didn't spot the control right away I still knew I was in the right spot and usually just had to take a step or two to see around a tree or something. A couple of route choices I'd do differently knowing more about the vegetation in hindsight, but others I'm still very happy with.

Took some scalps today as the saying goes!

running 52:58 [3] 5.0 mi (10:36 / mi)

5 mile run on the drive. Wasn't sure I could do 5 without walking.

Obviously warming up to get started, got going okay, and then tanked at the end!

walking 31:49 [3] 1.5 mi (21:13 / mi)

Walk down and up.

Note

I'm not sure why I decided I was going to run 5 miles. I haven't gone more than 3 in months and maybe even a year. But for some reason I decided I just was. Was hoping for 11 min pace and was going to be happy with anything under an hour. Cool.

Yoga/Pilates (Core DVD) 35:00 [1]

Got bored and quit right before the "swimming" stuff. Need to work on side planks. Perhaps I'll add those to my bedtime routine.

running 58:28 [3]

TNT - Bob, Jim, Karl, Ben, Sandy and me. The guys did some long run. Sandy and I opted for lamppost intervals. We decided on 3 miles total, jog the first four lampposts to warm up, then run hard for one, walk for one and jog for one, repeat until done. I can't walk as fast as Sandy so it was more like run hard, jog slow, jog a little faster for me. The sprinting wasn't very far, maybe 50 meters or so, but it was good to keep up the rhythm (now there's a weirdly spelled word!) of fast, slow, medium. It took us 32:16 for the 3 miles which is pretty good given how slowly we did 1/3 of it.

The rest of the time is the down and up to the drive.

Yoga/Pilates 1:15:00 intensity: (45:00 @0) + (30:00 @1)

Went to the Monday night class and really enjoyed it. Although it was a beginner class I really concentrated on tensioning muscles so got a decent workout. It was a great way to work out all the leftover kinks from the weekend.

Note

I clearly have no standards on what I deem to be training!

I say that in jest, but actually think the yoga has really helped me get back to where I'm able to think about wanting to train again.
