Note

Have been less regular with icing my knees especially in the morning; it's tough to get it in before leaving for school. Will have to think of a way to get into a good routine for that since I think it really helps. But getting up even earlier will take a little easing into.

Note

Sitting in a rocking chair on a deck, overlooking the ocean, working on a research paper that I might actually get published somewhere. This is the life!

trail 48:47 [3]

TNT with Dasha and Eric. Easier orange loop. Really enjoyed it tonight for some reason.

walking 1:10:00 [3]

Walked home. Luckily no buff bikers to distract me so no falls. Heavy load again but used my old pack with a waist belt so not as big a deal. Took a slightly longer route but no fall so same time.

trail 1:04:15 [3]

TNT
Well, we got what we asked for.

Clem asks "so what's planned for tonight". We reply "we have no plan, you decide". He says "hill workout"! So that's what we did.

Jog down to the covered bridge then up and down the hill there as many times as you could/wanted to for about 35 minutes.

I did 5 repeats but came down the long way around - it's not as steep and not as rocky as the hill we use for repeats. Going up is fine but going down has me a nervous wreck so I end up walking most of it. Going around takes a bit longer but I can run the whole way. Went all the way to the very top all 5 times without having to stop or walk or anything which I don't remember being able to do before - I may have done more repeats but I would stop at the trail 3/4 of the way up or walk the last bit or something.

Half a mile on the drive to a trail that heads back up the hill to home.

walking 1:10:00 [2]

Took public transportation to school and on the way home, instead of transferring to a second bus, walked the 4 miles home from the closest stop through the Wissahickon. Weighed my backpack - it was 20 lbs. My new laptop may be fast and all, but it weighs a lot. And nice as my pack is with terrific padding, it doesn't have a waist strap, so a little harder on my shoulders than planned.

This was supposed to be part of a new plan to get in two days of walking each week alternating with running at TNT. Unfortunately, I took a rather nasty fall early on the trail down to the Drive. The weight of the pack was enough that I couldn't regain my balance and I went down hard on my hands and whacked my cheek. Must have wrenched my arm/shoulder and hip as well since I'm pretty sore. No blood, but I already feel stiff and achy.

Pooh. Ah well, it will get my mind off my knees.
