biking race 1:19:58 [5]

Wow! Did the Cranky Monkey mountain bike race in Fountainhead Park, VA this morning. (Valerie was working results and got me an entry - pays to have friends in high places!) Fantastic place to bike - very few rocks, but lots of roots, lots of narrow track on sides of hills, bridges, up and down and, thankfully, the occasional "easy" section. Really, really fun. Rode in the beginner female class, came in 2nd (not as good as it sounds - only 4 finishers). Meant only one loop as opposed to two or three. Heart pounding, hard breathing the whole way. Total wuss on the downhills; but reasonably strong on the uphills. Jumped a few logs and rode up and over a couple of built up piles. Definitely would like to ride there again. Oh, wait, I will! That's where the AR in September starts.

swimming 40:00 [3]

My normal once-every-month-or-so swim laps in the pool outing. Had to stop a few laps short of a mile because my feet were cramping. The last time I swam I had the same problem but it went away. This time, after massaging out the cramps 3 or 4 times in one foot, when the other one went I called it quits. Wonder why this seems to be a problem.

trail 1:04:30 [3]

Ran a hilly loop in the Wissahickon - first time in a while I've been able to run that far; felt really good to be able to crank it out. Although I wasn't going particularly fast I was really happy I was able to keep moving.

biking 44:16 [3]

Did some hill repeats on the mountain bike in the Wissahickon but was wussy and did them on one of the roads that goes down (and up). Amazingly there was someone else with the same idea and we passed each other in opposite directions several times. I then found a really nice trail home - an unusual one for the Wiss. as it was plenty steep and narrow and twisty and had some good drop offs, but it was almost all dirt with only a couple very small sections with any rock at all and those rocks were pretty small. So a lot more fun and less stressful than the other trails.

running 56:36 [3]

3 miles along the drive - 11:06, 10:57, 10:20
walked down, ran the road part of the hill home.
Felt better as I went and probably could have done more but my knees are a bit achey.
