two hours finishing up vetting courses for Iron Hill next weekend - beautiful sunny day in the woods

orienteering 47:00 [3] 3.75 km (12:32 / km)

Brown course at Brandywine (local DVOA event). Lots of small errors - maybe 5 mins total plus some sloppiness in executing routes.

The distance is a guess - I just ran for a while in the woods, on some deer trails through eye high grass, on some of the small rocky trails on the sides of the valley and purposefully threw in a bunch of hills. I just tried to keep an even tempo and know that I did one 1/2 mile stretch in 5 mins along a flat section.

Wanted to see how fast I could do 3 miles. Took about 12:30 to walk then jog very slowly down to the big trail, ran 9:05 and 8:25 for two and really thought I was going to puke, walked half a mile in 7:25, ran a mile in 8:49, walked home in about 12 minutes. Had real problems breathing - not sure if it was just the hard effort or related to the problems I've been having with asthma meds.

5 on the wide gravel path by the creek: 10:10, 9:29, 9:14, 9:22, 9:50. Felt pretty good.

walk/jog down to the creek and back - howling winds up top but hardly anything down in the valley.
