orienteering 2:33:04 [4] 12.1 km (12:39 / km)

DVOA Long Champs - red course. 2nd to Angelica Riley (2:11 I think). Was running surprisingly well I thought given the AR race yesterday. Some nice long legs with lots of route choice - opted for more climb, less distance and straight thru the woods instead of around on trails in most cases.

adventure race 6:30:00 [4]

Genesis AR in Wharton State Forest, NJ - aka the Pine Barrens. Took 1st Coed with Mike Ball - 5th or so overall. Took 3 hours on the bike section (after swimming across the creek and then freezing for the rest of the section) and thought we were toast, but came in first off the course! The navigation was tricky; the trails were a veritable maze with some mapped, some unmapped, some added that were "representative" as opposed to accurate. (The male division - including Joe B.'s winning team - did the loops in a different order.) Screwed up the "orienteering" section by trying to cut the corner through the woods - should have stayed on the trail since it really was just a trail run. Paddled like the novices we are but managed to hang on to the lead ahead of the coed teams.

treadmill 45:00 [2] 6.0 km (7:30 / km)

Rainy & dark by the time I got home from work so I dusted off the old nordic track (almost 20 years old by now). Took it easy while watching tv.
