walk/jog 1:00:00 [3]

TNT - with Dasha. Forgot to start my watch but we were out well over an hour. Did 8 repeats of jog 1/8 of a mile, walk 1/8 of a mile on the track plus some walking around the fields. Couldn't believe how hard I was breathing with just a very slow paced jog for 1/8 of a mile. It was as if I'd never run a step in my life. Very discouraging.

Nice dinner and conversation afterwards. Bagged maps for Ridley.

Brown course at Mt. Penn. Not my favorite park - too rocky to move very fast and the course went through some nasty briars as well. Error at #2 - was where I needed to be but didn't push hard enough through some crap and then wasted a bunch of time looking somewhere else where it was nicer. :) Lost about 5-6 minutes there. Rest of the course went well enough but can really feel the extra weight at the moment.

Time to start this again - short hill loop. Did lots of run 150 paces, walk 100 paces just to get through it. At least it should be easy to see progress - assuming I keep at it. Won't do it in the dark though so will aim for once a week.

I should figure out how to keep a log of the times on this loop - I know it can be done so just need to remember to ask someone how to do it.

Another ramble around FCN just looking at the terrain and finding where the woods are nice and where they're not. There's a good bit of the latter, but plenty of the former.

Finished up walking through the campground loop that's open. There were dozens of large RVs (think big time singer on a road tour) and the population seemed almost entirely men decked out in hunting attire. I hadn't given it much thought ahead of time but had on my neon yellow jacket which was probably a good thing.

TNT - down to the drive, a mile jog with about a half mile walk in the middle, hike back up the hill with two more sections of jogging on the road to the corner. It's going to be a long, slow haul but I'm on track.

TNT - ankle still a little stiff so decided not to run. Sandy and I did the core dvd instead. All of it. With no skipping anything. I'm going to be sore tomorrow.

Short Stumble. Ended up doing just about all of it with Sandy A. And ended up walking just about all of it. Jogged a little near the beginning just because. Then a little near the end just to make sure we made the 3 hour cut off. And of course jogged it in to the finish.

No real mistakes other than a few "hmm, control should be about here - oh, there it is" type hesitations.

A fun day with great company on the course and super company in the car. Thanks for car pooling and doing all the driving for a second weekend in a row Sandy and Karl!!

And found a tick when I got out of the bath. I always seem to get at least one every time I go to Pine Grove.

Rolled my ankle going between G and H. I heard it pop, so initially I was really concerned that it was going to be bad but I was able to get up and walk after a minute or so and while a little tender it doesn't seem to be too bad. Not sure I'll be able to run on it for a few days though.

TNT - around the track jogging every other lap for 8 plus a bit of additional walking. Great dinner afterwards. Julie Keim came. We watched some tv coverage of NAOC. It was a hoot.

TNT on the drive with Margaret and a little with Jim. Hiked down, jogged 1/2 (5:45) a mile, walked half, jogged half (5:25), walked half, hiked back up. Building up slowly.

Checking out some of the French Creek East terrain for a possible A event next fall. Ann came along to get in some orienteering practice - we found lots of places where I won't take courses and then hiked trails for a bit.

Oh boy am I out of shape! Not too many errors - just hesitations in a few places making sure I knew which re-entrant I was in - but very little running anywhere. Not sure I picked the best route on the leg to 2 - I was trying to keep my feet dry so went further west than ideal most likely. Glad to get out in the woods though and make progress on being ready for the spring O season.

Hike in the Wissahickon. My legs are really sore from the maybe 15 minutes worth of jogging on Thursday so I figured I'd better do something before trying to orienteer tomorrow.

Pretty sad, but I've got to start somewhere.

TNT - late arrival but found Dasha and Ann and did some walking/jogging around the fields and track at Penncrest HS. Very nice dinner afterwards.
