Mountain Bike 2:34:00 [3]

Cwm Carn with JP, one lap of the new track and one lap of the old.
New track is better in the dry (ish), though old still takes it for me.
Only about half my gear changes were commanded at the end = another wiggle order.
Nice day - Felt like summer at the end - oh I forgot, it is summer.

Orienteering 20:08 [3]
shoes: Roclite 243

Bath Uni prologue, Easy through the field, then I was a bit rough. When Ben caught me that was probably the fastest I've run this year. Then followed this up by a massive mistake on#24 (I wish I could blame dodgy mapping - but it was my own ineptitude).

Final, went out quite hard, with more map reading focus, wanting to beat people this morning that probably shouldn't beat me. Got a bit flat halfway round - as it was really long, perked up at the end. A few small woobbles. Never saw/worked out the third underpass level for 10/11 and 21/22. I think this cost me on 21/22.

Run 20:00 [3]

Various warm up/down interrogation of mapping.

Note

First time at Bath uni and thought the area was pretty cool. The planner went for a control pick style which was cool. Maybe you could put in more fiendish route choise legs, though it is quite porous. Defintly big enough area for a British sprint. given it hardly felt like we used the same area twice and the courses were a touch long.

You would need to work out how to remove the third level., tweak the map, and don't use it for a couple of years - then JK or British sprint :-)

Still pining for a British sprint middle. Sprint Bath, Middle Stockhill - complete remap by a top shelf mapper.

Orienteering 48:00 [3]
shoes: Jalas

Kenfig, Made an effort to go here, as havn't been before and a bit motivated to do some O after Slovenia. 45 min score, intially seemed easy to get them all, then had real issues on #1 220 and #2 219, with a massive parrllel error and relocation. I had somewhat emabrassingly only been to 2 controls after 12 mins. That set the scene for essentially a 48min relocation exercise. Thought I might get back in time , but then
I spiked only about 4/13 and one (206) was a complete fluke.

Appears to be a cracking area , even with the veg high, it was strangly runnable in places.
For comments on the map See Mark2's log
"Has the potential to be a really top class area - if it gets a good map - too many tiny paths, and point features - knolls/small depressions - at the expense of trying to show a clear picture of the, admitedly complex contours - on the current one, in my view. "
In addition I would add the catography could be improved. I think all the controls were probably in the right place, apart from #213 (a tad beyond)

Run 35:00 [3]
shoes: Trailroc 255

Jog round the downs. Very quiet out today, odd for a bank holiday.
Things that hurt before (L knee & R soleus) still hurt after.

Note

Epic session at Redpoint with Stuie, prob the best standard I've reached yet.
