OMM Day 2

Shortened course.

This day started with
"I'm not doing today"
Then
"I'll get the map and go back"
Followed by
"OK we'll do it as the course is shortened"
on way to #2
"I've found a compass"
On way to #3
"Let's catch these people"
On way to finish
"go on smash it"

So this went quite well. I had a faff just after #one, as I had misjudged how much clothes I had on. My shoes were slippy on the rock round #4, but we spiked 2/3/4 on way to #9 we did a route along the ridge then over Fan Brycheiniog which was good. Spiked 10, then smashed it down through the forest passing loads of people to the finish.
Next year I'm looking for a partner without schizophrenia.
Happy with 8th under the circumstances. Like last year, a lot of the top teams are going all out on day 2. We had no idea until sunday evening that we were anywhere near as high up as what we where after day 1.
Our goal earlier in the year was 6th, this would've be emminently possible given different buildups. Next year maybe.

OMM Brecon Beacons
A class Day 1

Was lucky to make it to the start line with Tim suffering from a cold in the days before. Set off a minute infront of Mark bone and Si, who quickly passed as on the way to #1. Was most satisfying to punch the control ahead of them. Went Straight line to #2 past the pond on top of Fan Fawr, and sneaked in ahead of them there too. On the bown train to #3, and with Mark and john at 4. This would be a cool orienteering area. Then up to #5, which looked a little bit tricky. The Dr headed off into the cloud, and we punched the control. Had decided there wasn't much in left/right to 5 - still not convinced there is, so we went left to get some forest running. Maybe right is a tad quicker, as the gullys were deep left, and it is longer, but the path was ace. On the lower slopes of Fan Nedd we got stuck in some absolute shite, and was also aiming for the wrong gate. Timmy lost his normal jovial spirits here, and we started to slow.
Nearly didn't spot the prohibit to cross fence exiting 6th, went right over the hill and up Nant y llyn, fast round the side so think a pretty good route to #7. We were moving a bit slow at this point, with kingtim complaining about some things called hip flexers.

Had a reasonable nights sleep despite it being a bit wet.
