Really intresting article on BOK news on running speed vs orienteering speed. (arguably the first ever intresting article in BOK news :-)

I often think that veterans (particuarly outside scandi) think 21's do well because of how fast they run. There's many an older memeber in BOK that can out run me, but few that can out orienteer me.
My eff factor is ~ 1.25 from that race.
Which indicates what I already know, I would need to do more training!!!

Orienteering 30:00 [1]
shoes: X-talons

Pwll Du with Mark, checking out the part of the new map and eyeing up control sites. Looking good. Should be a super event, particuarly if the weather is like it was today.
Nice and easy, feeling the cold (illness).

Orienteering 20:00 [2]
(sick)

Control collecting at Long Ashton.
Jog round grabbing in some of the controls. Unfortuantly it suffered from the rookie mistake that everyone makes, of doing up the grapples too tight. Real b8tch to get some of them off, particuarly one which took ~ 5 mins.

Map was very impressive, difficult to spot any issues, reckon he followed the spec pretty closely. Matt commented that it took a while! Rival to the portishead map for map effort of the year.

Didn't spot any "hidden" controls that one British Juior squad member was complaining about, I can only assume they were in the half I didn't collect.

+ Cold which was inevitable with the way I've been slaming myself.
