Note
(rest day)

Have spent pretty much the entire day mapping, catographing and planning. I don't mind the planning but don't really enjoy the mapping. Even mapped some shite that I'm now not planning on using, dope. A little girl saw me mapping and we had a conversation which went:
Girl: "excuse me do you need some help"
Me: "no thanks, I'm fine"
Girl: "are you sure"
she must know how crap i am at mapping, I'm in awe of people that can do it efficently to a high standard. I'd quite happily pay a student £50 to do a proper job.

Run 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Roclite 315

Went for a jog round Leigh woods in the evening sunshine.
Pushed a bit on the nightangle valley downhill to try and get the strava segment - which i've done a bit too comfortably. Thought the CR time was poor, as one of my cruisy times was only 6 s off the CR. Almost ran over a dog in this process, which eventually i did have to slow down for.
Cruised along the tow-path. Failed to go up the valley i intended too, so it turned into a slightly longer session than planned. You think after 5.5 years of poking my head into the tunnels in leigh woods i'd know which one is which - but apperntly not.
Legs still tired, but nothing hurts. More rest tomorrow.

Had an intresting look at quite a few of the Historical OS maps circa 1900 in Stanfords this morning. Arguably the Leigh woods one is more accurate than the current orienteering map.The quarrys all had cool little wharf things in the river. Even AC hasn't changed much.

Orienteering 1:30:00 [1]
shoes: Roclite 315

Putting out and collecting in controls in AC in smooth silky sunlight.
Nice to have a new map.
Put out most of the ones in the east. Fretted over one for a while, in a nice block of woods. Compeltely oblivous to the fact I'd put an earlier easy control on the wrong distinct tree. opps - my bad (107)
collected in most of the ones in the West.
Nice to explore the map, and visit new places, ceartainly a lot more features mapped than before & accurate contours. Just needs a bit of tidying up now. Good work Jim!
Shows the true potential of an area once it gets a proper map.
Bring on a professional map of leigh woods please please please.

Generally taking it easy, legs a bit sore after some hard sessions. Rest tomorrow - tapering for Jukola.

Run 13:30 [5]
shoes: Adidas gel cumulus 11

B&W Intervals.
18x45s with 1min 25s rest.
Good session to try and get the leg speed up. Fairly tough at times.
Slightly sore left soleus and right hip, but not too bad. Would've been better if we wern't always running to the left.

Run 26:50 [5] 5.77 km (4:39 / km)
shoes: Roclite 315

Blaise Blazer. Smallish turnout from BOk team monday, just me and Adam.
The race went off quite quick and I hung back a bit. settling in on the climb. Normal yo-yo of passing people on the descents and steep ascents and being passed on the flat. Didn't do the second hill particuarly well, a bit stop/start and suffering. Felt good across the field, not falling back as much as normal, and reasonble on the final climb.
So good conditions and an overall reasonble race. Or at least I thought it was until I see I'm 1min 20 s back on my pb and it's actually one of my slower times.... Maybe I need to push more or do more intervals.

Adam had a good win, he needs some compitition.
Makes Orienteering look cheap at £7 for this race!!
