Run 1:10:00 [3]
shoes: Roclite 315

Chedder gorge with Jim.
Delightful run, started at Charterhouse, down velvet bottom, up chedder gorge, down the ridge towards chedder. Splendid views over the South west, ascended the tower. Faffed a bit trying to find thee path up the other side, which turned out to be quite steep. Ascended that then back along the edge and back up the valley to car.
Would make a good Mon night loop. Included bits of track new to me.

Note

Swan Inn at Rowberrow. Really good food. Felt alright after the beef ploughmans and Butcombe, less good for running after the chcolate brownie.

Run 5:00 [3]

Wavering Down, We turned up a bit late, so all the people had unfortuantly gone out to collect the controls.
Ran up to the peak to get #105 which apperntly was still out, but when i got there it wasn't. Jog down to meet clive and Jaqui and wandered back in the warm sun.

Run 16:00 [5]
shoes: Roclite 285

After a whole day of procrastinating, eventually got out for a jog.
8x2min with 1 min rest on the downs.
Nice afternoon, Some blokes are wearing really weired clothing. It's like poms all have a pair of highly (un)fashionable orange/pink/red shorts to wear against their pasty white legs on the one day of sunshine endland receives per summer.
Good session. Felt hip a bit at the end, but otherwise felt fine.

Run 20:00 [3]
shoes: Roclite 285

Warm up/down with jog to downs and back.
Was testing shoes, and I really do think they are too big. Damn inov-8 for changing their sizing. Really nice shoes, and I need them a little smaller, in the new shape. :-(

Run 40:00 [3]
shoes: Roclite 315

Light run round AC. Everything felt fine at the start of this run. Out the back of AC started to get real tired and sore RH arse muscle again. Struggled back, perked up near the end.
More rest needed from weekend I think.

Orienteering 30:00 [3]
shoes: Roclite 315

Winscombe Village Urban.
Started having issues on the way to #1 with the map, componded at #2. didn't pay as much attention after that. At five I asked Charles what he was doing. Only to think as I was running off it was strange my course didn't go further west, as the notes had said beware of cows in the west field for the long course. It was at that point I released I had picked up a medium map. Doh!
First time I've done this in my 20 years of O. That's alomost all the stupid things complete now.
Anyway perked up that I was doing a shorter course. Right hip started to hurt a bit coming back.
Good terrain, and it's always fun to have a new area. However it would've been even better if the symbol sizes were correct (ie didn't require a microscope) and uncrossable booundariers more clearly mapped.
Mapping is difficult (I'm no good), still think BOK should outsource more mapping and let the volunteers contribute in areas more suited to their talents.

Brown Clee

Was in quite a lot of pain jogging before this run. Broadly unable to run very fast at the start. Went stright to #3 wlaking most of the uphill. Hesitated going into three as the contours were not quite as I would've mapped it - you had to go up over the ledge. Stuffed up #8 as thought i was going straight, but actually off to left, and had to work out where I was (1 min). Also ran past number 10......
Going down to #13 saw Ed way down to my left. Started to run a bit easier now. Enjoyed 16 -> 20. Then track mostly track running to finish.

Quite early on in this race, I acknowledgedI 'd make it a recovery run, and try to nail the nav. It was a new area to me, Really glad I went as it exceeded my expectations, with lovely forest, and technical contour detail, with vague veg. Bit annoyed I was sloppy on #8, not too many technical controls, as one's like #6 were easily placed. Think it's probably the only race I've done where I felt more comfortable running at the end then the start!

Saw a sheep trying to get over the fence crossing 16 -> 17. Had it's hind legs on the crate, and the front legs on the wrapped wire. Moved off pretty quick when it saw me coming.
