Mountain Bike 4:00:00 [2]
MTB with duncan, gord, phil and his mate brad.
From brook up to coopermine saddle. Fairly easy going, as it's an old railway. Council has done up some of the track beyond windy point too. Then we rode a newish track the council has put in. It replaces the old tramping track up form the matai caves. It was amazing single track. it is truely awesome. A 700 m descent over sublime purpose built singletrack. Feels like you're in the widerness, yet only a stones throw from the city centre. The old tramping track has just gone, and been replaced by an extensive zig-zag trail.
My hire bike coped OK, though it's fair to say I'd put a bit of wear into it...
No offs, and only a few dicy bits. Then some sweet flowing flat single track down to the pipeline. Followed that out, which confusingly at smith's ford involved a climb away from nelson to get on the other side, as the road is apperntly shut. By this point brad was destroyed. Then with Gords and Dunc, back over tantragee, and down some of the single tracks in Codgers. This primarily involved gordon trying to take me down stuff, that he thought i might crash on, I came close, and then walked a little bit.
Awesome, with this kind of track building Nelson truely is a MTB mecca. Legs a bit gone by the end, maybe I should bring my bike out from Uk next time.
Time is a guess - garmin died.
