Orienteering 41:27 [3] 5.4 km (7:41 / km) +170m 6:38 / km
shoes: Jalas Olway

British O relays - Tankersley Woods, Sheffield
2nd leg, with Tim 1st and duncan last

Tim was a little bit further down then i expected, so i wasn't really in a pack. Caught & passed andrew powell at the 1st control, and pretty smooth, got a bit stuck on the way to 5, incircle issue at 6, but generally pretty good. first mistake at 14 where i didn't trust myself and went to the right (30)s. Adam had just caught me up, which i was a bit suprised about. Took a conservative line to 18, which was pretty rough running. Apart from that just little things here and there. Mayb 1.5mins total.

Sturggled with the running due to being sick. So just had to go slow on the track bits. Generally the terrain was nice for me. Much better than i expected, glad i'd come up. It's a pleasure to run on a technical map where it is actually representative of the ground - a rare experence in england.

Went out 24th came back 17th. Craney blizted my gaffle in 30.29 but generally people did 32+ so I'm quite pleased with my run, given the circumstances. Felt more like a middle than a relay. Duncan pulled us up to a solid 13th overall.

Big ups too the BOK 1st team with a spectacular 3rd!

Note
(sick) (rest day)

So deceided best not to run the long, as still quite ill.

Sounded a bit controversial. I know noone likes a course voided... but when there's a control knicked IMHO there's no other option.

"26.13 The organiser must void a race if circumstances have arisen which make the race significantly unfair"

British event controllers need to grow a pair to maintain technical standards. I've done an event on the continent which was voided in similar cirumenstances. I'd had a good run, but what can you do for the guys when the control wasn't there? How can you allocate WRE points in this? How high does an affected person need to finish before they would actually man up and void a course?

British O is too small to put people in postions where they must protest to a jury to get rules to be followed, as the protestors risk pissing people off who had done well.

Orienteering 37:55 [3]
shoes: Ascis Gel cumulus 11

Timmys urban event at horfield.
Had good control flow, think i took most of the opt route choices. Apart from maybe not continuing the alley at #3, though it was slow going anyway, so i'm undecided. The drink control at #7 was cool. #11 also looks a bit 50/50. At #13 just had it in my head that it was behind the u shaped green, after bearing right. found a u shape green, but no control. There was another bloke there, and we decieded it must've been knicked. I did think at the time i couldn't see an earthbank. I was on a parallel (unmapped) feature. Deceided not to do the course again. Felt a bit sore from intervals and legthargic.

Good course planning too make it as tough as poss with a limited area. Always intresting exploring the back blocks of brizzle.

Mo night run, nice loop out ashton court, 50acre, tawpit, and back via abbots pool. duncan showed me a nice bit of singletrack next to the wall in ashton court, that i'd strangly never discovered.
