WNL Parkend Walk
Was a really well planned set of controls, with no immediatly obvious route.
Went 6 8 12 7 17 24 23 19 14 15 27 21 11 20 16 26 22 9 3 2 18 13
So missed 5 controls includeding the big pointer 25.
Had a number of issues with my run, 8 to 12 direct was slow. Then cruicially never saw the northern gap through the OOB so descended from 14 then up to 15. Had in circle probems at 15,17, 22. Then couldn't find 11 for the life of me. Ddin't help i thought i was looking for a boundary stone rather than a mine entrance... Went in and saw a fence thing to the right, persumed it wasn't on the map, did about 4 sweeps of the hill side in zig zag descending, then back to the AP and in again then saw it this time on the fence thing to my right.... dohh. So it didn't seem quite right wrt to contours but pretty close. Then on way to 16 got stuck in thinnings in forest edge, as I watched the dr run up and down the track. After untangling right leg, left leg then suffered a serious wardrobe malfunction, so that's the end of my favourtie noname tights. So after fecking around at 22, running really late, again some thinnings on the forest edge to 9, and then blasted throught the last ones with some impressive splits and some sub 4 min/k running to end up 42s late.
11 cost me about 4.5 mins and maybe a couple of mins elsewhere. Still would've have been pushing to clear it without seeing the top gap.
Bown got them all just and was a min late, he saw the top gap.. and didn't have any big errors like my 11.
So after a lot of O geeking propose the following ultimate routechoice.....
7 12 6 8 25 4 5 14 19 23 17 24 15 27 21 11 20 16 26 22 9 10 3 2 18 13 1
which i'd be mighty impressed if anyone did anything mostly like that.. as it would've involved some extreme forward planning at the start.
By far the trickest control choice i've come across in a WNL, and the controls were pretty much all in the correct place!
Area's alright too, could do with a remap and map the complex bit and then could be used for a bigger event.
