Orienteering 1:02:24 [3] 7.4 km (8:26 / km) +405m 6:37 / km
shoes: Jalas Olway

Headless hill, FoD, Brown

Quite a few same controls as last night, bananed the route choice to 8 which prob cost me 1 min. then only small mistakes < 20s ea, went overish to 12, which i'm not sure was optimum. maybe 2 - 2.5 mins all up. Got 16 cleanly this time.
Was behind, alan cherry, pete hodgikson, ben stevens and mark bown, which looks quite good. But alan cherry smashed it in 50.43, a shoe in for the JWOC team running like that. Nearly got pottered again... something that to his benefit is going to start becoming regular.

post split note: cherry was running with stevens, my route to 12 was good, would've been even better if i'd hit the fence corner directly, rather than being a tad high.

Road Bike 1:52:00 [3] 46.6 km (2:24 / km)

Road bike with James, took it easy, as been a long time since i've been on a bike. Portishead, Clevdon and back.

Orienteering 1:01:22 [3]
shoes: Roclite 315 Old

Night event headless hill, 1 hour score.
9 11 15 16 28 26 22 20 21 24 27 25 19 23 8 7 1
A mixed bag tonight, completly stuffed up the first one at 9, must've gone fairly close to it, before looping backup to the track. Suffered a lack of apperication for how difficult it was going to be, fell over twice going into it, and had the headlamp on the low power setting by mistake, then was smooth through 15, 16 which were quite tricky in the dark. Kept going nicely, narrowly avoided a collision withh a logging trailer. Lost a minute on 27, which iv;e had problems with before as the maps skewed, also wasn't sure were exactly i'd come off the track. Then from 19 bombed it down in a rough compass to the track, and then along the track, then after a while couldn't fit anything, as i was relying on the veg with walk to be obvious and i don't think it was, tried to relocate uselessly, twice, and then just headed to 23, then 8, bashed through to 7 and then back via 1 and was late.
450 points minus penalty, so got beaten by ifor and mark B at least.

But considering I got 275 after 30 mins with a big mistake at 9, i really stuffed up the last bit. Quite pleased with my route, if i'd got 13 & 12, then prob would've done the 40 pts on the track, 5,6,7,1

So a mixed bag, good technically training. A few good lessons.

Well set, and all the controls were in the right place!!! a first time ever for me at a WNL after about 6 events!! well done potters.
