Orienteering race 1:10:51 [3] 10.0 km (7:05 / km)
shoes: VJ Intergrator

Tio-mila, Aktaboden, Sweden
6th leg, 3rd team, dawn
So was on 10k 6th leg. As the runner i replaced had been out there for a while, started quite late, at dawn.
Just cruised round, as still not being able to retain any food, and stomach quite upset, although mostly otherwise recovered from illness.
Some good route choice legs, but quite simple for swedish terraine. Lost maybe 1 min on 4 by getting confused going into it, and stopped, but i was in the right place.

Very fun event, really serious, coaching etc, the big screens and automated callup was awesome, seemed really well organised. Glad i went.

(rest day)

Felt alright this morning, but now feel pretty crap. Hope it's just from the exertion in wkd, or something I ate, hopefully Ok for tio, where i'm apprently doing the long night (18km at 3am) for the LOK 3rd team. Should be fun (retrospectivly)

Orienteering race 28:30 [4] 4.6 km (6:12 / km) +90m 5:39 / km
shoes: VJ Intergrator

JK Relays
M120 + with Charles, & chris kelsey
Dipton Wood
cD4

Was annoyed I was not in team, but then the guys team didn't do that well, as our first runner lost the pack (tim!)
So after struggling with map (see note) got to 1. Only bad point was route choice to 5, where i intended to run straight got into a lot of shite, and bailed out half way too track ~ 30 s Lost time on 9 by running track ~ 10 s and 5 s by nearly overshooting 11. so 45 s all up. Got stronger as race went on. Bloody pleased,
Bet all W21Es (also W21e champs) and gave mhairi mckenzie a bit of a tow, and she got a good time. And bet clive hallet!!! but didn't really due to changeover times...

Team 11/49 I went + 7 I think

Fastest time: me by 1 s :)

Note

JK relay organisagtion

The JK had by and large been pretty good (with sunny sunny weather) up to the relays. I could have a minor grumble about some things on the first 3 days, but wont as it was generally very good. But the relay was not acceptable for an international event.

1) The busses were a complete cockup, primary level maths could've predicted this, starts delayed by an hour is shite, and i bet people missed conections after event.
2) Compelete chaos in map issue. Took about 10mins for me to get through, and i was lucky. About 100 maps unsorted in a box, I eventually saw mine and grabed it.... Other people missed there runners. Debateble whether every top 3 was the correct result, therefore whether all results should stand. I hoped someone protested for the record ( i wouldn't actually expect a result). The scandis wouldn't have this mess and have MANY MORE RUNNERS. Incoming runner should get map from board or graveyard.
3) The stickers were impossible to get off. I spent about 3 mins trying to get mine unstuck, and took a small bit of description off. Mark S had a map in 2 pieces, I saw a young child having to stop and ask a photography. Some peoople got them opened by a knife, not me. Not acceptable.
