Orienteering race 1:39:59 [4] **** 9.9 km (10:06 / km) +390m 8:26 / km
spiked:13/27c shoes: Jalas O shoes

Knockalls Enclosure, Forest of Dean, District Event, Black course

Well I think the figure spiked 13/27 says it all, I was way too physically tired (thus mentally) for a clean run. Very nice area although the map seemed a bit cluttered, maybe the symbols were too big. And the maper obviously has a different interpretation of distinct vegetation boundarys from me... I can't be bothered gong through specfic mistakes, bar that i need to increase my fitness and it's all good training. Biggest mistakes on 7 and 14 which were similar controls.

British Night Champs - New Beechenhurst- Forest of Dean

First Night event in a long long time so why not let it be the british nights! A suprisingly low key affair, enetered M21L to try and get some distance. Would've been alright bar a complete disatour (11.5 min error at 17)

Startered consertivly and was pretty clean until 5, where I lostmaybe 2 mins by not sticking to my plan and turning the wrong wasy to investigate some unmapped ditches. But that was alright. So kept going. Stumbled across 7, Lost 40 seconds by drifting right on 9. Kindof fluked 10. Was rolling past 11 when hit end of retrants so went up to get it 30 sec loss. Started to feel a bit tired towards 13, then conservative top route choice to 14, then made in circle error, slightly hidden but came quite close to and then missed and went back. then next 2 fine until 17 oh my god what a disatour. I don't know what went wrong i was with other people then got confused by another control etc. Even when i relocated i couldn't find it. Even when standing on the track at the end i had to see someone else get it So it blew out what would've been an otherwise reasonbly run.

In retorspect i needed to calm down and find the small indistinct track again, i was too high on both attempts. After that i was slowish but no major mistakes, generally a fun time.
