Mountain Bike 58:00 [3]

MTB at Afan with JP
Parked at the top trail centre. Had a nice climb, Ashton court has made me technically weak. Then at the top there is a split option red of black, on the w2. Persuaded james to do black, even though he mentioned he wasn't feeling brillant. Did the sweeping turns, which are the limit of my ability. Got to the bottom, and waited. And waited. Eventually JP turned up walking. He had a realtivly large cut on his arm ( you could see bone). Dropped into abercregan and back too car. Actually had quite f a swift roadride at the end, as he was keen to get to hospital. Spent the next 4 hours at swansea hospital A&E. Cheers for the directions Mark2!

Teifi pools, welsh day 5. Thought i'd go check out what all the fuss was about.

Started off steady,strangly have the second fastest split to#2, and i hesitated, don't know what people were doing. mashed two a bit, just getting used to waht was on and not on the map. fes small issues on 7/8. Went out to right to #9 which probably was non-optimum c.f straight, but gave some track running.
More pleased with my route to #10 which i think was close top optimum, going out left north of both lakes and using roads. Lost 1 min on twelve after doing my ankle in and having to stop. Intresting that on #14 everyone must have followed the tracking which didn't got to the control, with my fast split time. Went straight and over to 18, maybe a slight time loss, but didn't want to contour with a lower right leg, with my ankle anymore. If there had been tracking from fence crossing stright to #18 don't think it would've been slower.

SBOC eastern europeon import did 64.00

Nice course from the saunders/daniel team.

Got in some more OMM training with control collecting. picked up aabout a dozen controls in one of the more complex areas.

AC/leigh woods/AC Kept the pace fairly high througout, not much stuffing around. The final loop of AC finished me off. Nice weather.

Monday night run with timmy & jimmy.
Felt good to start, but that didn't las long. did a non-standard mon night run loop, stayed high in leigh woods, out to abbots pool, with a short climb up to field, which finished jimmy. Back to AC. myself and timmy finished with a bit of a loop. cracker night.

Note

Watched relay today. Nice coverage in the event centre.

Enjoyed the week, particuarly the sun/swimming/mountains and banter in the aus/nzl campsite slum.
Technically - shite
Physically improved during the week, amazed how much fitness i had lost over the month before.
Knee seems to improve with training, have strong suspecision it is aggravated by work. specifically my work shoes.

Chateau de Goblet
This was the area for the long final and to be honest it was a bit shite. It was a probably less intresting than leigh woods. Had plan to go in and out off the tracks. Broke this on number 1 with some short forest section which i had to bail out of. Enthuasim waned at times with some wlaking sections, interspersed with being more motivateted. Did some really wide route choices to try and stay out of the grot.
