one of eight Tyrving WInter Runs. Very fun part of the season, where going back to the old-school route choice orienteering on streets, organized by Arne. Even running on this map quite a few times before, there were still new and interesting legs, and still some head-ache decision making.
Decided to do aggressive route choices and go as straight as possible. Some interesting legs:
A1-2: Knowing the area well, knew the fastest with good margin was taking the big road east of control one, and take that the entire way around. Also gets a good downhill. DIdnt, by principle, want to go around, and rather do some crazy straight going instead. The downhill towards 2 was a lot steeper and rougher than anticipated, and lost some time. Figures as it was a 25m drop.
A3-4: Thought maybe i should go north and cut through the woods 3/4 of the way, but remembering the hill i went down I Palined it.
B1-2: Although not been running on this leg before, an advantage of running on this map before, was knowing the contours. That control looks like it would be okay to go around, but in reality i would end up going up the hill anyways. Didnt make that mistake again :D
B2-3: interesting leg where curving around the "valley" would gain some time. Had best split on that leg.
B3-4: In this leg there were many dead ends, but there was one that caught my eye (road that leads south of the large building), but it was questionable at best. Didnt want to be given a penalty minute, like happened before, for going through residential, ditched it, and had some hesitation on the leg. Still managed to get best split partly because Jim Øystein thought the rxact same thing, and did an even worse route choice.
B4-5: Was pretty sure my route choice would be the fastest, but after crossing the tunnel and about to cross the grass, hit a huge construction fence and had to go around. Ended up not being the fastest.
