Trail Running (AT Big Branch Wilderness) 3:00:00 intensity: (1:00:00 @1) + (1:00:00 @2) + (1:00:00 @3) 10.91 mi (16:30 / mi)

Mad Tom Notch over Styles and Peru Peaks, then Griffith Lake to Baker Peak and on to Danby-Mt Tabor road. Nice day, nice run with Alex.

Got delayed on the shuttle start, as neither of us remembered how to get to Mad Tom Notch and all the road maps were in my car at the other end. Eventually navigated to the right spot by trial and error (and also spotting a turnoff named Mad Tom Notch Road -- hint, hint!).

Got most of the climb covered in the beginning. Then it was trail running with a few rocky sections. Smoothed out at the end and cranked it up for a bit. Suspension bridge out, so had to ford across the river at the end which was refreshing.

Off Trail Running (Mtn Meadows XC Center) 2:05:00 [2] 8.2 km (15:15 / km)

Vetting terrain for possible A-meet site near Killington. Large area of 3-4 sq km. Rolling terrain with a couple minor hills. Mostly open deciduous forest. Lots of 1-2 m boulders dropped around for features. Open network of xc ski trails and logging skid roads. Many moose tracks.

Will make a fine A-meet venue. Also ready for ski-o. Good trail network and ready to help groom some additional narrow trails.
3 PM

Trail Running (Green Mtn Trails) 1:54:41 [2] 4.27 km (26:52 / km) +301m 19:52 / km

Another prospective venue ("death race") near Pittsfield, VT. Area has many mtn bike trails graded into terrain. Will struggle with big hillside and thicker vegetation.

Land contiguous with extensive lumber tracts and no cross roads. Could be interesting area for rogaine.

Trail Running (Burnt Mtn) 1:15:00 intensity: (20:00 @1) + (35:00 @2) + (20:00 @3) 4.55 mi (16:30 / mi) +172m 14:46 / mi

Trail run with Erin on a hot, hot day. On trails at Burnt Mtn, but some have deteriorated from last time we were here, probably 2 years ago. Also a few new single tracks; fair amount of bike activity evident. Ended up bushwacking down from near the quarry through nice woods.

Fun, relaxed run. Lot of sweating from the weather.

Bicycling (Kingdom Trails) 2:00:00 [3] 8.2 mi (14:38 / mi)

In the Northeast Kingdom. Met up with Tracey and Cricket. Rode the Kingdom trails network. Really fine network of single track and double track. Winding, hilly, rooty, but no rocks nor logs. Just a fun ride. Very pretty terrain.

Felt good, much better than last week's ride; no ill effects from yesterday.
