garmin never got satellites :(

map
very slow and over-cautious today
many many smaller errors - mostly route choice

1) straight was probably just as good but took more cautious route around
2) more or less straight marking off swamps - decided against path and continued straight letting the cliffs lead me in
3) just straight
4) not 100% sure of first part of route, hit creek and followed to swamp, cutting in at last minute, was just about 10 meters too far south
5) down to swamp, and long edge to control
6) map didn't seem to make much sense to me so around the cliff to find the man made object and verify my location - down path to turn, cross creek and follow cliffs to swamp, then up, minimizing time in green. bang on
7) somebody grabbed my map at 6 to see where we were - lost some time and concentration - just ran, hit creek and corner of fence, followed fence, between swamps, up between the hills, turned at boulders and up and down in to 7.
8) cross trail, up big re-entrant around swamp was plan - ended up too far west (wrong boulders?) - relocated after a minute or so and found control
9) poor route to re-entrant - hard to run, along swamp, turned up wrong re-entrant, hit trail, so knew where I was, then just straight to control
10) very stupidly took wrong angle to trail - should have revised plan at this point and gone other way around hill. went up the trail, up the re-entrant, past the first 2 "lakes" then cut in at third
11) straight route made perfect sense
12) trails, cross stream between swamps - I knew exactly where I was and somehow managed to think I could be on wrong swamp and control across swamp might be mine - in spite of the fact that the terrain and direction were wrong - lost my battle with my confidence and checked it - retraced my steps and along original plan to 12
13) down to fence and along trail - saw that going around by creek at very end would be better but stayed on trail.
finish) way too much energy left again

orienteering race 47:24 [3] 4.01 km (11:50 / km) +100m 10:31 / km
(sick)

very cautious, couldn't see much with the rain - took off my glasses at 4. only really big mistake was 2-3

route

1) way too cautious, execution was fine - did not need to walk the whole way
2) still very cautious
3) caught daydreaming - wasn't paying attention to my plan and just kept following the rocky ground
4) headed off in wrong direction, adding to route length - could hardly see anything so took safe route around
5) stopped shortly after leaving 4 to take off glasses and put in camelback - could now see where i was going, but no map detail - was a longer but safer route, pretty well executed
6) very easy leg - for some reason I was walking again - need to keep reminding myself to run
7) sped up a bit, went over cliff just a few meters from control.
8) very briefly started to head off in wrong direction, then very simple navigation all the way to 8 (had picked up some speed here)
9) simple navigation, decided to drop down and then look behind me for control instead of trying to figure the cliff out from the top. dropped down only a few meters from control.
10) follow along hillside,, over to train then in - spotted control easily
11) just follow marked trail.

Note
(sick)

doc thinks my ongoing congestion issues are due to mould and pets and other allergies. Guess this means I should do something about the mould in my basement (and no, smoking doesn't help).

Note

rescanned middle map from past week-end and scanned sprint map

boot camp 1:00:00 [4]

sprinting and agility, core work, then more sprinting
pretty tough with very congested lungs but managed to keep up
