Hmmmm not so successful, being slightly uncoordinated I strugled some what. Beautiful sunny morning in the snow though, also looking forward to riding my bike up this "mountain" soon.

Just cruising round the forest checking out the marked tracks etc. Got lost very quickly when I decided to just run, not orienteer.

Strength and conditioning 1:00:00 [3]

Indoor training, at the local gym, with the rowing, skiing and orienteers. Really good strength training. Felt absolutely fantastic to be running up and down the gym in shorts and t-shirt even after only 4 days here in tights and jacket.

Morning run through the forest. The line between whats orienteering and whats running will be very blurred I think, because theres no way I can running without a map, I almost got lost today just because I didnt have a compass.

Club training in Tällberg. Very pretty little place but not the best map really Lots of tracks so not hard. but there was some good bits off rocky slope just like aus but way harder cos of the low vis. Spiked all but one control, which I drifted way off course on, didn't have a plan before I started the leg. Also got chased by a big dog, it was scary running through the bush with him barking behind me....getting closer...and closer....until I lost him with my agile direction changes through dense jungle and cliffs and sheer cunning.

Mountain Biking 45:00 [3]

first ride in Sweden. Headed out ambitiously, but got lost almost straight away and had to get back to pick up my new children from school. Nice place for cycling though, got to keep this up, or I'll get injured from too much running I think.

Still not sleeping very well, dead by 9 and awake at 4am. Makes me feel pretty crappy.

Orienteering 37:00 [3]

Morning race near Borlänge. Heaps and heaps of tracks on the map, so it was pretty easy terrain. I struggled trying to use an old base plate compass and got really disorientated a few times. Havn't seen any results yet but I have a feeling I got wasted buy all the old guys.

Orienteering intervals 45:00 [4]

First club training. We did a small relay for a warm up which involved matching the word (in swedish!) for a feature to the map symbol after a short, very muddy hill sprint. I had a few problems. Then 5 small courses run with a partner going in the opposite direction. This was great. Trying to run fast through the terrain. I didn't go too badly but struggled physically. Got to get much stronger to master this sort of orienteering. core and leg strength.

Run with Åsa from my new home in Leksand, through the forest with a map in hand. Some good relocation practise to begin with! Ran back via the club house which is about 5minutes from the house. Wasn't feeling too bad considering the long flight (LA never again!). Hardly any snow left about, just in the forest and on some of the trails. Though it was pretty slushy and a lovely 5 degrees!.
