Bell Hill Challenge.

Decided to do this fairly last minute. Thought it would be good to do this race instead of Mt Somers because I hadn't done it before, it was in a place I can't run normally and also less people were doing it so there was a chance of some prizes :)

Pretty happy I decided to do it. It was a super fun course with a good sized hill and then a nice run through the Dalethorpe map (certainly looks like there is still enough forest there to go orienteering!). Was feeling good and strong up the hill and managed to drop most of the men I was running with when it got steep and snowy. Good hit out.

The downhill was an overgrown farm track and I was soon running by myself...in no mans land somewhere between the lead pack of men and the chasers. I put some more distance on the chasers on the downhill and then popped out onto the main track at a T-intersection where there were no markers :( So ran back and forth a bit for a minute or so until the next guy turned up who had done the race before and we were off.

Unfortunately the rest course was very badly marked/not marked at all and the big group of "chasers" actually managed to go the wrong way round the loop which was very confusing when we crossed paths (me running with one other guy and about 20others coming the other way!).

Rogaine-no-mates. Was late arriving and quite tired from my mtb mission so didnt get time to plan a route. It was a rogiane where a plan would have helped.

Feeling pretty crap and made the foolish mistake of going for 11. That took a long time but I did win an airbed.

Rogaine at Haswell. A good hard run around for me keeping up with Greig. Was feeling pretty good. Looking forward to the orienteering this weekend although I think I might be a bit tired from all the training to really run well. Will have to just focus on getting the navigation right.

So went out on the road bike instead but forgot to take puncture stuff. Got flat tire and had to get Tane to come rescue me after slow progress along the summit road. Thanks Tane.

Not a good day for the bikes.

Up to summit of te ao whakere and back down to the car. Bit of a snow wallow most of the way but some nicer bits along the ridge. Sweet views and a nice day.

Good to get a bit of training in with a heavyish pack.

Didn't actually seem to be going very fast. I think this session would be better if you did it a few times or maybe if you weren't feeling pretty smashed to begin with. Feel like I've been doing some training.

Up to the rogaine. Got a fair way up the hill and realised I had forgotten underwear. Then had a small crash on a stupid muddy section. Only just made to the rogaine in time to get changed. No time to make a proper plan let alone mark it on the map. This led to chaos later....

Started off well going pretty quick but was feeling good. Then a bit of miscommunication and I head off up the spur while Greig headed down. After not being able to find him I decided I would sit and wait at 44. He never did show up. Annoying because I wanted this to be a good hard 2hr run.

South Canterbury Adventure Race with Mitch and Stru. Smashed it.

Was a solid day out. The boys were going hard on the bike so I was suffering a bit but good training. Stark contrast to Spring Challenge.

Cruised a bit much on the run but knew we were well in front at that stage.

Great fun weekend. I really do enjoy racing with these guys.
