Orienteering 58:00 [4]

Orienteering at Kairaki. Went ok. Was feeling like it was a bit of hard work but it probably was! Started to loose focus after about 40minutes and made a couple of dumb mistakes from not concentrating.

Note

Raced a guy home on my commute today. He didn't know we were racing and it felt like horrible hard work. Still some recovering to do but it is good to be doing some more active recovery now I think.

Run 45:00 [1]

Run/mostly walk with Chris and Em up the valley and back to the coffee shop. Luckily a family was impressed with how fit we looked and stopped us to chat for a long time so we got to go for coffee earlier. I nearly died.

Note
(rest day)

Biked to work today but still feeling pretty wiped out. Probably going to take another week off completely, maybe two. Forcing myself to ignore people like Tim out training.

Note

Shouldn't have bothered biking to work. Bike got stolen :(

Note
(rest day)

Slowly catching up on things this week and starting to feel better now my cough is going away.

I think it is unlikely I'll ever get round to writing a proper race report for Godzone and nationals but I guess its fair to say that I am pretty happy with how the last two weeks went.

Nationals - stoked with winning the long. This was the goal and I ran aggressively to achieve it. A bit dissapointed with my performance in the others although still my best nationals ever.

Godzone - Satisfied with how we raced. We learnt a lot (its sad to have to do races to learn lessons sometimes, especially such long ones) and dealt well with Stru being fairly sick all race. I learnt lots in the treks and just needed to be more confident to push the pace. No one else was going to do it so I only have myself to blame really. We wasted hours dawdling but finished well and racing. I can't complain because we had to do this race to learn that lesson as a team. I think the rest of the team also learnt a lot and there is potential that we could go significantly faster given another opportunity.

I felt like this race was similar to WRC in America last year. A big learning experience that has given me a lot of confidence and an idea of how fast I could go. Fun times.
