Fun run at Mt Oxford with Tim, Romans, Matt and Lara. Up to the top and then down via the spur over Ashley Saddle. A good loop. Took it easy up the hill as was feeling pretty average and slow. Nice day out in the hills

Times are a guess. Southern lakes 24hour adventure race with Tane Mitch and Stru.

Midnight start with a fun bunchride and hill climb onto Northburn station. A bit cold on top of the hill.

Rogaine 5:30:00 [3]

Dropped the bikes and then onto a trek from the top of the hill. Things started to go badly for me early in this trek. My stomach had been feeling and behaving dodgy all week..it continued through this leg so I was a bit useless. Some good gear carrying and towing from the others helped a lot and I felt much better by the end. Pretty miserable for awhile though.

Back down the hill to Lowburn. Good fun descent but we seemed to lose a lot of time to tiki tour. Possibly too slow riding downhill and a bit of a flaff at one control (should have written descriptions on map! Do not give descriptions to Mitch)

Kayaking 3:00:00 [3]

Paddle towards Bannockburn plus abseil. Team paddled well together I think but way too much flaff here and we stopped racing for awhile. Luckily we saw the kids catching us and I got remotivated to push the pace a bit on the next bike.

Wrist didn't seem to get any worse in the kayak. But was a bit annoying.

Round the single track to the start of the kawarau gorge and a climb up Mt Michael. Brutal but again we seemed to all climb well together.

Rogaine 2:00:00 [3]

And a demoralizing boring rogaine to finish. Luckily tane was still feeling good to do all the out and backs to controls.


Ended up 5th. Not sure how I feel about this race. It was a fun course but I struggled to be motivated to push hard for a better placing . Probably too much racing recently and I just couldn't be bothered. Also I think Id sort of decided where we were going to end up before we started and didn't feel the need to do any better. Some pretty fit and tough girls out there who had beaten me (mentally) before we started. No good attitude.

Taking a rest day before the race.

I seem to have hurt my wrist paddling on Friday. Pretty sure it is from gripping the paddle too hard. Will have to try and focus on that in the weekend and hopefully the paddle is not too long and it doesn't make it too much worse.

Strangely it didn't hurt in the weekend at all although it has been getting worse all week. Maybe it is from working on the computer too much?

Monday night run with the normals for a bit. Was feeling pretty off the whole time then had to stop and walk for a bit and make my own way back home. Probably drank too much coffee today?

Orienteering 47:50 [5]

Humpy Bumpy. This was fun. After Naseby and then Paramanui it was nice to do some easier orienteering where you could run hard and still make sense of the map. :) Made me enjoy orienteering again, looking forward to southern o-week.

Akaroa harbour with Em in the double, Tane in the single. Nice to be out kayaking again although I died considerably after about 3hours. Sufferfest back to Akaroa. Em did well.

Monday night run with the boys. Feeling pretty good considering. Right calf a bit tight. I was slow on the flats.

Up at 3am to climb Mt Una via the West Cristopher. Lovely trip up the river in the dark then quite snowy and icy at the head of the valley. Unfortunately I wimped out at about 2150m just off the summit ridge. Not sure if it was reasonable wimp out or not. Two ice axes and more rigid boots would probably have made me feel more comfortable maybe. Or maybe I just need a bit more practice to have more faith in crampons.

Back out over Fowler Pass. The best kept secret of mountain biking in Canterbury. So much fun. Even with a fully loaded bike and a bit of walking in the morning to make us tired. Just made it to Hanmer 2min before fish and chips closed.

Seem to have recovered from my cold.

Bailed on the road ride in the morning because I still wasn't feeling 100% but then a much more fun mission got planned and I decided I was well enough for that. Sorry Tane.

Biked from the Fowler Pass turn off over Mailing Pass and then into Cristopher hut. Bit of a mission with all the climbing gear but still and awesome ride.
