Orienteering race 1:12:35 [4] 11.1 km (6:32 / km) +300m 5:46 / km

Dunedin OY on Mount Ross. Was pretty happy with this run. Not very good in the circle but that would improve with premarked maps I think. Otherwise missed a few of the good routes off the redline by just expecting that straight would be always best (something to watch at Nationals I think).

Relocation with La and Clare. This was good training! Forced me to remember to stop and look around for the big features and get out of there if I cant relocate quickly.

Simlpification. Another good session. Definately the way I want to orienteer at Naseby (and anywhere else!).
1. Having a plan for each leg, nice and simple so I can run fast
2. Getting the exit direction right and sticking on my bearing
3. Slowing down in the control circle and reading the detail

Tennis match training with Scott and Alistair at Bower Ave. Was feeling pretty good tonight and navigationg ok. Tried to focus on getting good control flow and exit direction. Always good to train with the guys, especially on terrain that I know well.

I have been officailly kicked out of the dsquad today...after 7 years of loyal service I have seen 3 coaches, many camps recieved lots of usefull advice! I will miss the dsquad. Does this make no longer part of NZ high performance?

Last of the evening sprint events. Ran reasonably cleanly but didnt feel I was running super fast and there were a lot of places you could run fast! Was a couple of minutes ahead of Lara so pretty happy with that.

Am sick and have been since a rather epic 21st on Friday night. Been away down south for the last few days with friends which makes it hard enough to go running even when Im feeling well. Pretty unhappy with being sick so may run uni sprint tonight anyway.

Jogged the long way round to uni for a warm up but then had to wait in line at the start anyway.

Too much of a running race for me today. Blegh not the best idea i've ever had to try to run this at full speed.

30min very quickly putting out most of the controls north of the dump. Then the rest very slowly after I seriously hit the wall about 20min in. Must bring food and water with me next time!

Twilight sprint at Lincoln. An ok race for me navigationally. Got a bit confused around all the uncrossable fences that were on the map but not on the ground. and got my exit direction wrong out of 6 but otherwise just should have found a toilet before I started! cost me a lot of time not being able to run comfortably.

Ran the medium course aswell for a bit extra. Was very similar but tried out the other route choices so I could get all geeky and compare splits.

Tried out "new" oshoes that have been sitting on my floor for a year since I suspected they were a size too small. Now I knnow they definately are too small. Feet got so painful I ran back barefoot. Was a horrible course anyway so no big loss. Lots of prickles to pull out of my feet now though.
