Running 30:00 [1]

Orienteering race 1:45:00 [3]

Long at West Point.

I was a bit nervous what the knee would feel like but it actually felt the best it had since the Raid. While running with Isak I did however realize it would be a long day. Once at the start line, my goal was to really focus on the orienteering knowing that as long as I have a momentum I will be able to finish. That was the goal and I was pretty successful; two mistakes and the odd hesitation but that's about it. Pace was however slower than at the Giant's Rib for example. Will Hawkins caught me between 4 and 5, but I couldn't stay with him for a meter.

Overall a successful weekend. Most importantly, Isak had a great time and has certainly improved; he will do this totally on his own soon. He just needs some more experience including relocation, decipher clue sheet and appreciation of distance but that will come with more races and ARK. Personally, another great weekend at WP. I ran here for the first time only two years ago but for some reason I have managed to do well here every time. This year, I pretty much nailed 52 out of 57 controls and no mistake bigger than one minute.

Now I just hope my knee will heal so I can get some running in and get the legs back.

Running 30:00 [1]

Orienteering race 40:00 [4]

Middle at WP.

A tough race with lots of knee high bushes and, of course, hills and rocks. I had a great technical race and need to be very picky to find mistakes and I am very happy with my orienteering. Knee hurt a bit when I ran with Isak and during the walk to start but once in the woods, I didn't think too much about it until the all the downhill running at the end when I had to release the parachute. Legs were however sluggish but I maintained a relatively steady pace aside from the down hills.

Orienteering race 20:00 [4]

Busy day. A quick lunch after the middle and then out with Isak again. I wasn't able to hydrate enough, I think, after the middle, and legs reached another sluggish level. I lost about one minute one on #10, about ten minutes in to the video, and perhaps 10 seconds on #3 and 15 seconds on #16, helped a lady (after 12:45) otherwise good. I wasn't too upset really, but got pleasantly(?) surprised looking at the splits afterwards to see that II was 4th halfway. With that feeling in the legs I thought I was pretty much done immediately.

Indoor biking 10:00 [4]

Full blast for 10 minutes during the inside ride. Knee feels great 10 seconds after I start bike, but so stiff 10 seconds after I stop. I have adjusted the diagnose slightly to Jumpers' Knee. Have had it before and will deal with again, but it will definitely cramp my style at WP so I better find those darn flags without mistakes.
