Terrain (Grass) 20:00 [2]
shoes: 2140 Black

As much of a warmup as I could fit in between watching Yaya and getting the first sprint underway.

Orienteering race (Park) 18:20 [4] *** 3.0 km (6:07 / km) +20m 5:55 / km
8c shoes: Sportiva Grey

Mark's sprint course (sprint 2) at the SLOC Forest Park (1:5) meet. Turned out that Mark and I had the same idea for the start - our first 3 legs were nearly identical, so Mark dropped them from his course since his was longer. Still a fun course, but would have been better if the initial legs were left in.

David was out of town at Planet Adventure, but Rob, Rudy, Bill, and Tom Svobodny (in town for some reason) all kept me honest. Magaged to get first without completely trashing my legs for tomorrow, but it was a stern effort.

Then walked the first sprint course with Yaya.

Paddling (Canoe) 55:00 [3]

Finally got in a paddle with Brad at Castlewood. Good thing, too, because the first few minutes weren't pretty while we sorted out our styles. Settled on switch every 5 and by the end of the session had the boat moving pretty well. Brad's been lifting; I've never seen him this beefy. That's good, too, because we ain't gonna win this one on style.

FatTire (Trail) 1:06:00 [2]
shoes: Bike:GT Hardtail

Then rode some trails. Flood plain trails are a bit goopy after this week's rain, but everything is ridable. If we don't get any rain between now and Sunday, conditions will be excellent.

Didn't push the uphills any since this is supposed to be an easy day, but was riding the downs pretty aggressively. Front washed out on the loose stuff near the east end of Roller Coaster. Not the most fun stuff to land on at high speed. I was pretty sure this was going to cost me more than just skin and it did. The lucky body part is the left shoulder. Didn't separate, but it is mighty sore. Sure hope it doesn't mess up my paddling.

In the spirit of getting back on the horse, I proceeded immediately to the top of Love and did the descent in a credible 5:38, so at least my psyche is in tact.

Running (Road) 41:00 [2]
weight:173lbs

Easy morning jog round the hood.

Tae Kwon Do (Technique) 30:00 [2]

Family class, but Yaya didn't feel like it. I didn't twist her arm because she's already been to three classes this week and...

Cycling (Road) 1:18:00 [2]
shoes: Bike:Redline Mono

... it allowed me to ride to class with a longer spin back. Helped the legs quite a bit after feeling stiff most of the day.

Terrain (Trail) 2:03:00 [2]

Perfect morning for a long run; cool, overcast, everything still damp from last night's rain. However, with Conquer Castlewood only 4 days away, I clipped it at 2 hours. Powerline, around CC Lake, and them some extra distaince on the powerline to bring the time to 2 hours.

Tae Kwon Do (Technique) 30:00 [2]

Family class with Yaya.

Cycling (Mix) 1:16:00 [2]
shoes: Bike:Redline Mono

Easy midday spin. Includes about 25 minutes on the powerline which didn't seem like enough to separate out as MTB.

Tae Kwon Do (Technique) 40:00 [2]

Family class with Yaya. Spent pretty much the whole class on 1-step sparring which meant we got more time actually doing stuff since everybody can do that at once.

Running (Track) 48:00 [4]
shoes: Grid A2

8x200@39 200R. Evening reps while nautre put on a nice light show to the north.

Running (Road) 25:00 [2]

Easy morning jog round the hood. Felt horrible. I think that's a good thing indicating that Saturday was a decent long effort.

FatTire (Trail) 1:48:00 [2]
shoes: Bike:GT Hardtail

All the ridge trails at Castlewood in each direction just in case they change the course for Conquer Castlewood (they say they won't, but they've said that before...). A few technical sections have been dumbed down a bit, but I was really surprised how easy it all seemed. Now the question is: has my technique come up a level or have I just gotten comfortable riding slow? I guess I'll find out this weekend.

Running (Road) 35:00 [2]
shoes: 2140 Black

Easy morning jog round the hood.

Paddling (Canoe) 36:00 [3]

Evening paddle at CC Lake with Yaya up front. 4x5:00 brisk switch with 3:00 recovery. Arms were a bit tired because I cleaned out the garage today which involved quite a bit of carrying crap around.
