NAOC long red.

A bit better than yesterday in some ways. But I was running slowly.

The terrain here is interesting.

M45 course. Fun orienteering. I had a reasonable race. Lost some time when my glasses fogged on the last couple of short legs. I had a few legs where my map reading got behind, but for most of the course I was orienteering well. Running was slow and steady. Not moving through the terrain well (only my second run in the terrain this season so not unexpected).

Ran without a compass and that was a good decision.

MTB cycling 50:00 [1]

I had a mid-afternoon meeting with some scientists. So, I ended up getting back to the office a little late and getting to the trail head a little late. I'd planned to run and bike but decided to just bike.

As I was looking at the Kaw at the turn around, I wondered if there was much geosmin, MIB or microcystins in the water. The scientists gave me some papers that might help me figure that out.

I learned two lessons:

1. damp leaves can be slippery
2. riding into a tree can be uncomfortable
