running 20:00 [2]

Jogging to warm up, including taking a minute or two to look at the little bit of map we got in our packets.

M21 at Batona. Fun stuff, but I got really tired after about 30 minutes. Most of the run went well - decent concentration and moving ok.

The longer sprint course. I ran at a little bit below an honest effort. A little sloppy, but not too bad. I started a minute or two behind Anna. She boomed early and I passed her without seeing her.

I decided to run the shorter sprint race, too. I should have warmed up, but was a bit too lazy. That was dumb. I planned to start easy and keep an easy, steady pace. At the 2nd control I looked up and saw 3. As I headed toward 3, I thought, "I bet Anna ran fast on this stretch." That got me to speed up and I picked up the pace for most of the rest of the course (it helped to spot a couple of Walkers in the woods ahead of me).

Picking up the pace meant that I beat Anna. I was 2-0 against Anna for the day. So, I let her know about it (which is pretty sad, if you think about it). I'm probably a marked man, now.

Travel day. I almost went for a short jog.

running 50:00 [2]

Jogging around at PNS - a good test of my new aerodynamic hair cut.

running 10:00 [4]

3 x 3:20 old man intervals (with the pannlampa). I ran a little easier than usual, figuring that it'd be a little easier on my legs.

cycling 30:00 [1]

The usual on the trainer. I fel a lot better today than I did yesterday.

running 50:00 [2]

Slow jogging at PNS (with the pannlampa). I didn't really feel very good, not sure why. Maybe I'm just a bit worn out from not sleeping very well for a week or so.

cycling 30:00 [1]

Enough to break a good sweat.

orienteering 25:00 [3] ***

Testing Mary's draft course on the KU Campus. Fun. I think she'll need to make a few modifications (including adding a little extra distance). I go back and forth on the appropriate printing scale. I ran with 1:5000 today and it seemed ok. But, maybe 1:4000 would work better.

running 50:00 [2]

I reran most of the course, checking out a few things I'd wondered about. I also checked out som possible new legs that Mary had designed.

cycling 45:00 [1]

When I got home I pedalled on the trainer a bit - flipping chanels between Nascar and football.
