Race race 10:30:00 [3]

WT with Storm, Mrs. Gally and Rob
Began with a hard run to the beginning of the paddle which was rather hectic but we managed to get out with the lead teams. Considering our paddling training we were holding up well until we hit a portage where the falls were. We missed the portage and actually portaged down the fall which was very dangerous. I smashed my knee really hard which seemed fine at the time but started giving me issues in the first trek. We got passed by some teams but we were still close to the lead teams and were happy the way the paddle ended

Off to the first trek right behind trl and the shed. First Cp was straigth forward and then the plan was to follow the trail sout to the end and then bushwack right accross to the bridge and then directly to CP. NAV was fine but for some reason we seemed to be going slower than normal and not sure why. Possibly I was slowing the team down with my knee but Rob was also having issues keeping pace. Finally got to CP 5 in 6th which was a bit disppointing but we knew there was lots of racing left. Plan was to trek to the west and hit the train tracks as a relocation and then hop on the trail to the CP. Rob twisted is ankle a couple times which was concerning but we kept moving. We got confused right before hitting the tracks as there was an unmarked trail we hit that would have taken us who knows where. After some discussion we continued on and hit a trail parrallelling the tracks which merged into the marked trail At this point Rob rolled over his ankle again and was now having difficulty walking.

From this point on we walked the rest of the way to CP 6 and back to the TA. We knew Rob was likely done for the race so it was a let down finishing the last part.

We discussed going on as a team of three but pulled the plug as I would have likely just blown up my knee more and the final nail in the coffin was when Storm made it known that the brown pee was back LOL

Disappointing as we were looking forward to the last trek but things like that happen in AR. Mrs. Gally was quite upset as she was on fire this race and wanted to keep going carrying the whole team!

Great race though put on by Getawaystix and had fun tracking the rest of the race on-line
