Orienteering race (Handicap) 43:29 intensity: (1 @0) + (9 @1) + (44 @2) + (8:40 @3) + (14:31 @4) + (19:24 @5) *** 6.2 km (7:01 / km) +191m 6:05 / km

Thomass Event, a handicap where it starts with a score then on to a point to point course, the handicap is in how many of the score controls you need to get, elites were all 16. Think I picked a pretty good route straight off the line and put in a bit of effort for the first 5 to blow out some cobwebs then backed off a bit, walked the hills as well, came in a long way down with a stream of people in front, just slowly passed people on the normal course even tho I wasn't really trying, just more actuate in and out of the controls. Felt good.

More XC riding in Whistler, did some of what they call the valley tracks, never got into the actual "Bike Park" we were told our bikes were too small and these would be more fun, and they were pretty good, quite technical in places with areas of lots of rocks and roots, but bloody good, I could stay here much longer

On the drive to Squamish, a black bear tried to have his nose taken off by our bumper, fuck me
5 PM

Mt Biking 1:52:00 intensity: (44:44 @1) + (23:27 @2) + (42:19 @3) + (1:30 @4) 16.26 km (8.7 kph) +499m

The Shelly Cottle Squamish Mega Mix. Shelly's brother shuttled us half way up the mountian, spent a little time trying to get my brakes working properly as I changed the pads right before leaving but the pistons wouldn't go back far enough and were half on the entire time, with no movement in the leaver and a little touch would lock them up, anyway then biked up a fire trial to a new track that has been built using $50,000, Half Nelson, holy shit it was awesome, really flowy but still a good downhill gradient with lots and lots of little pumpy bumps, were bloody tricky. Claire had an over the handle bars on one (didn't see) which knocked her a bit not the best for first track in Canada. Then back up the hill again and down another track cant remember name with was a bit more rocky with a couple of small drops, pretty sweet, then carried on down another track, a black one (Blue easiest, black hardest) just after Shelly was telling us that the levels are slightly higher in the Squamish area, and the saying "if you can ride Squamish you can ride anywhere", this track went straight down over some massive rocks, Shelly disappeared and I just slid and bounced all over the show as all I had was no brakes or locked on brakes, was shitting myself and just managed to stop before a 4 foot drop, bloody hell. Got a bit better after that, then cruised around a road past her place and did a track in behind called Roller-coaster, very vegas roller-coaster like. Awesome ride

Note

Left for Canada at 7:30pm, arrived 5:00pm I just discovered time travel!!

Fuck the U.S, why is it that every other country in the world you can 'transit' except the fucken U.S. What a bunch of fuckwits and Air NZ needs some abuse too if they know what the procedure is like but still arrange flights with a 2 hour gap. Started waiting in the customs que for an hour (not moving) while asking several custom officers if we could get through somewhere due to our flight "No, you will miss it" was the standard answer, we eventually just went in the US citizens line and got through after finger printing, photos, eye scan and anal probe (might as well have been) then also instead of your bags getting transferred you need to collect and clear them as well, got our bags, and had 15 mins before flight was leaving, asked the majority of the 500 people waiting in line if it was alright to jump ahead and no one had any issues until we got to the customs officer and he said "you cut line, there is no cutting in my line go to the back" and then refused to talk to us calling up the next person (as Claire had a slight breakdown) then an old couple told the guy we were next and they wouldn't go up until he served us, fucken hell, well his supervisor got called, after trying to be a bigger asshole than the first guy, he finally gave in to Claires crying and sent us through, then we finally got some Canadians at the Air Canada desk and they rushed our bags through and then got us through all the security checks to make our flight has they were closing the doors.

By the time we got our car, sorted out finding the apartment we were staying in it was about 10pm

Advice, dont go to or through America
