A warm but pleasant enough day in Forest Park for a fun sprint-style course set by Mark G.

GPS didn't pick up a signal at the start. Finally acquired signal near #2.

Ran the first 8 controls alone. Caught Emily at the water crossing just after number 8. About 20 meters behind for 9 & 10. Passed her on the way to 11. We sprinted to 14 and that basically wiped me out. HR was at 184. Emily passed me on the way to 15 and then blew me away to the finish.

Ran cleanly for the most part. Slight bobble at 12 from the river up to the control. A moment of hesitation crossing the water feature at 8. In the end a good run though. Got Eric by a minute. A first for me. Although, his tempo intervals ahead of running the course might have been a factor.

Was hoping the legs would be more up for the run today than they were yesterday. First mile felt sluggish but then started to feel better. But by the 3rd mile my legs felt like wet noodles tied to bags of sand. Walked a good portion of the 4th mile. Jogged the 5th.

Not sure what's going on. Heart rate was ok.

Took B to Forest Park to run the Gr/Br/Or sprint A-meet course. First 5 controls were fine. 6th was too weedy so I had B show me where he'd have cut into the woods. On the way to 7, B tripped on a small stump and split his knee open down to "oohhh noooo, I can see bone!" Not really, just cartiidge I think. Got 7 and then continued a bit towards 8 but the knee was fairly bloody so we headed back to the car....

Felt aweful. Cut the run from 5 down to 3 miles.
