Walking 35:00 [1]

To/From car + walk at lunch.

Stretching 10:00 [1]

pre-ride

Cycling (trail) 15:00 [3] 1.25 km (12:00 / km)
shoes: Cake 2 DLX

Went out to West Tyson to ride Chubb. Started out and decided tires were too low and rear shock way to full. Added air to tires, let a little out of the shock. Turned out to be a little too much...

Walking 15:00 [1] 1.25 km (12:00 / km)
shoes: pearl cycle MTB

..... shock completely bottomed out when I got back on. Walked back to the trailhead and called it a day.

Cycling 42:00 [3] 14.0 km (3:00 / km)
slept:10.0 shoes: Cake 2 DLX

Was going to do a longer ride, but my legs were really dead from the hills yesterday, so did a short and easy loop on a few hills and headed home...

Strength (Raking thatch) 30:00 [2]

Another feable attempt to displace some crab grass....

SLOC Beaumont Scout Festival 1:15K

Couldn't have asked for a nicer day to run in the woods! Temp about 50F, clear blue sky, little breeze. Perfect.

Fun course with lots of hills. Advertised climb was 235m, but by my count it was 330, redline was closer to 420. One misplaced control (7)cost me about 8 minutes....

AOWN: Pileated Woodpecker, several deer, and a large canid with a rabbit(?) in it's mouth. I guess it was a coyote but it was the biggest I've seen.

Interesting route choice leg, or at least, one that I thought about for a bit while climbing the hill up and out of 6: Take the path around, adding lots of distance, but staying high? Or drop over the ridge, cut the corner low on the spur and follow the reentrant all the way up to the control? Or grunt it out on the redline?

04/07/2008 - My picture doesn't seem to show up any more.... or sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.

Cycling 45:00 [3] 10.4 mi (4:20 / mi)
slept:6.0 shoes: Trek 930

Didn't sleep well.... woke up alot. Knee was bothering me. Got up at 7:00 instead of 5:30 as planned. Hadn't thought about how I was going to get to work.... Bike was the only option so I was glad it had (almost) stopped raining.....

B went to doc this AM, passed(?) the strep test, so he's on antibiotics now.

0/0.

Cycling 45:00 [4] 10.0 mi (4:30 / mi)
shoes: Trek 930

Home from work. Was actually a nice evening for a ride, but I was not at all motivated. Chaffing from the morning ride.... No idea why, never happened before. Different bike/seat/riding position???

0/2.

Strength 1:00:00 [3]
slept:10.0 weight:163lbs

Went to bed early last night and then stayed home with Benjamin today (he's sick). Slept until 8:15. Could have gone longer....

PRP injection in left knee for a minor flare up. Hopefully the last for a while. Didn't need to schedule another appointment for the first time in 2 years.

ART and muscle stim + ultrasound seem to be doing the job on the PF.

I discovered my "Mt. Everest" today: http://www.greatdividerace.com/

Maybe some day....

Cycling (mtb on the road) 45:00 [3] 10.4 mi (4:20 / mi)
slept:7.0 shoes: Cake 2 DLX

I don't think the floodgates were closed yet this morning, but didn't want to get to the bottom of Marshall and find water, or get down to the levee and find the gates closed. Although, I suppose I could walk the bike up and over the levee.....

Took Dougherty Ferry all the way to 141 from Geyer. I like this route better than Marshall. Could have cut a little distance by taking Adams/Ballas, but was avoiding the hill up to DF. Didn't want to work up a sweat.

Great morning for a ride! 38F at home (no frost), colder in the valley (lots of frost). Fingers and toes a little cold.

No overtly rude people. One driver, while I was on the final stretch of 141 where there's not much shoulder, either didn't want to pass me or was protecting me. Fine with me either way. Stayed about 30 feet back for the whole 2-300m stretch.

SO, by my new "driver courteous/rudeness rating" ratio, a 1/0 for the ride.

Note

No particular reason to count, other than time on my hands.... and I've been eating a lot (more than usual) the last few days. Kind of curious how many calories.

0350 large bowl of cereal and milk (estimate)
0150 orange juice
0110 Banana
0100 Grapes
0170 Cashews
0230 yogurt smoothie
0290 promax bar
0100 glass white wine
0200 cheese & toasties
0350 veggie stir fry + tofu + brown rice
0120 apple juice
------
2170 Total (so far)

Home from work via DF + some extra mileage. A perfect day for a ride. 58F, clear blue. Only a few gusts of wind.

A hard sprint over the 141 bridge and some intensity level 5 on some hills.

A 1/1 rating for the ride.

I thought maybe I was going to dodge the cold, but it seems to be strenghtening....

Stopped in Alpine Shop on the way home and picked up a new pair of full-fingered gloves. The old pair were no longer full-finger. Tried on some mtb shoes. The pearls are all way too narrow. And one pair had a velcro strap that wasn't nearly long enough to fasten. Probably why they still had a bunch on clearance...

Also, go a new saddle last week. Terry Fly Gel. Not yet sure I like it. Have to give it some time.

Stretching 10:00 [1]
slept:7.5 shoes: ASICS #2

Run 25:51 [2] 3.01 mi (8:35 / mi) +60m 8:05 / mi
shoes: ASICS #2

Easy run this morning to loosen up the legs.

Note

Predicted peak for the Meramec this week is 23.75 feet. Marshall goes under at 20.5. The VP floodgates on Marshall will close sometime tomorrow. But I have found an alternate route and it's not much longer than Marshall. I'll give it a try tomorrow. The tough decision, should I run or ride? With the long run on Sunday, I'm thinking ride.
