Sprint state championships at Curtin. Time is from the GPS watch, but my official time was 18:19. There seemed to be some problems with the start clock. Had the homeground advantage, and although I don't know every little corner on campus I'm sure it helped. Fletch started one minute in front and my plan was to go out hard and hopefully catch a glimpse of him. Wasn't as fast as I had hoped through the first few, firstly due to having problems finding the triangle on the map, and secondly due to standing around for two or three seconds at all of the first three controls. At #5 I saw Fletch coming out of the control and then I tried even harder to get closer. Passed him around #8 and got a little gap on him after taking a different way to #10. Caught up with Andre and Henry near #12 and overtook both of them getting to #14 and #15 first. I was paying for my fast start at this stage which resulted in brain failure on #16. Was expecting the course would lead us to the control I had seen at the start and thought #16 must be it, but it wasn't: ~24 seconds lost. Thankfully it didn't cost me second place. Without the mistake I would have been only 10-15 seconds behind Oscar, and with a perfect race I could have beaten him, but it's hard to be perfect on a map like this. Happy with second, just six seconds ahead of Ben and 15 seconds ahead of tRicky.

Cycling (commute) 47:47 [3] 21.6 km (27.1 kph)

Ride to work. For some reason, every time I got close to 35 km/h my watch started beeping and telling me to slow down. I didn't listen.
