shoes: Inov8 OROC 280

9 AM

Teering race (Big Foot Sprints) 14:51 [4] *** 2.84 km (5:13 / km) +49m 4:49 / km
spiked:14/14c shoes: Inov8 OROC 280

St Ives Showgrounds. Okm 2.3. Conservative in the first round - wanted to make no mistakes and achieved that, but a bit slow on several controls.
10 AM

Teering race (Big Foot Sprints) 15:01 [5] *** 2.8 km (5:22 / km) +50m 4:55 / km
spiked:9/14c weight:76.2kg shoes: Inov8 OROC 280

St Ives Showgrounds. Okm 2.3. 8th in Final, off 11 seconds behind Jock. The tactic was clear - get onto the Jock train. Easier said than done. I got back 2 seconds to #1, but Jock was faster to #2 (-4 seconds). And the thing about following is that you should go the same way pretty much. Which I didn't do at #3 and Jock opened up another six seconds, I took back another two at #4, but then came the climb to #5 and that was the last I saw of him (he was 4th).
I still had Greg Barbour (overall 3rd) in sight on the way to #7, but chose the wrong way around the building and got stuck (-10 seconds). Then the wheels fell off at #8, went down the wrong (unmapped?) track and had to retrace my steps - as I did Undy and Mike Burton came along the same way I did. Got the control - Undy needs to check his hearing - and made as if I was still looking on the way out, to no avail. Butchered the next one as well for another 10 second loss and they both got ahead.
I started to slip off the Undy train as we went uphill, but a 2 second gain to #12 put me back in the hunt. #13 was downhill and Undy/Burton went slightly right, so I applied the afterburners, went left and got to #13 first. Smashed my way into the bush, but was to the left of #14, and Undy got it first. With only 50m to the finish that was always likely to be enough and so it proved although I closed the gap a bit and made it an arm wrestle for the Finish unit.

Running 50:49 [3] 8.83 km (5:45 / km) +111m 5:25 / km
shoes: Saucony Hurricane E45

Naremburn. Different GPS (310XT), same result 960m, although tracks are still wavy within a +/- 15m band. So adjusted km times from Monday.

Running 43:00 [3] 7.0 km (6:09 / km) +123m 5:39 / km
weight:76.5kg shoes: Saucony Hurricane E45

Naremburn. Checking km distance with 305. Data is horrible and very jagged - but comes out 960m, same as the iPhone that I used on Friday. Maybe I'll try with another device.
