Teering race (ACT Champs) 47:44 [3] 7.03 km (6:47 / km) +149m 6:08 / km
weight:74.2kg shoes: Inov8 XC Talon212

Long Distance, two minutes longer than yesterday (Geoff was quicker than on the Middle!). Wet, not good for the Inov8s. Two major errors - veered off and overshot 4 (-1:30 didn't see an indistinct track junction) and stopped early on 8 in a gully that I couldn't make fit on the map (-1). Otherwise just not as fluent as Geoff.

Teering race (ACT Champs) 45:28 [4] 5.03 km (9:02 / km) +176m 7:41 / km

Collector Hill. M55. Wasn't expecting a match race with GLawford quite so soon, but thats what it was. Geoff was to start two minutes behind me (No. 1 ranked M50 and M55 2 minutes apart in a Championship). So I waited at the start for 30 seconds, so as to reduce the possible advantage I would have to get near the end, as I figured he was going to catch me at some stage. I didn't have to wait long as he arrived as I was figuring out the lack of contours at no. 2 - prominent gully and hill not evident. Anyway got it first and took off. Opened up a 10 second gap before the long leg, but chose to go around the bottom of the ridge on the long leg - got stuck, Geoff back in front. Sped up again coming back west, but failed to pick up where I was in the subtle big gully before the ridge. Geoff trundled by heading for one of the two hills, so I gambled on the other one. Wrong. Switched off after that, 2nd. As it turned out I was 1:32 quicker on the third last control, so my start strategy could have worked if I'd been in the right position.
EDIT. Re the missing hill at no. 2 - it was on the map last year!

Cycling (Commute) 36:00 [3] 14.41 km (2:30 / km) +267m 2:17 / km

Mild cold still making me coughing. Probably not the best time to have changed asthma drugs (Monday) but it seems to be working out OK, and the new one isn't on the WADA banned list.

Cycling (Commute) 25:00 [3] 9.6 km (2:36 / km) +100m 2:29 / km
weight:74.4kg

raining. urrgh. Note - need one more commute to pass 2010's total cycling km (958km). Doctor - Singulair.
Doctor yesterday. BP 154/75 (had had 3 coffees). New asthma treatment - daily pill: Singulair (Montelukast) to treat rhinitis as well. Encouraging start. Mild cold with sinus issues better last night, although still a bit gunky this morning.
Asthma drug history: Becotide [glucocorticoid LABA] 1978-86 (+Ventolin)
Intal [Non-steroidal cromolyn sodium] (+Ventolin) 1986-1994
Symbicort [glucocorticoid LABA/SABA] 1994-2011
Seretide [fluticasone/salmeterol - LABA] on occasions - definitely during 2002.
